Cool spike shooter

I really love Junkyard with its wacky humor and throw backs to all the other BW games.

So far I see

Wow, I just recently got this title and didn't make the 'throwback' connection. Thanks for noting these ...

#8 10 years ago

Hope to rejoin this year. One of my first games and I have missed its campy humor ever since.

#9 10 years ago

I swapped out the van. Also, working on a couple of other mods. LED'd it throughout.Junkyard 001.JPGJunkyard 001.JPG

To those who own... I've read that the down side of the game is the fact that you can hit the sewer over and over, therefore crank out huge points via video modes. Obviously not the point of the game, but do you find yourself cheating your way to a high score, or do you stick to building your parts and trying to get to outer space like you're supposed to?

The only time I get to smash out some JY is when I get a layover at this one airport I fly through to visit home.
I didn't know about this loop hole until recently.

+1 traded mine a while back and just played it at the Ohio show and want it again. Fun pin.

#12 10 years ago

The van mod is great but it should be aged to look like it has been in a junkyard...maybe broken glass missing a wheel, pain a door a different color make a fender look rusty etc

#13 10 years ago

I bought mine with a treasure trove of parts inside. If anybody needs a doghouse or toilet let me know. I also have a NOS translite.

#14 10 years ago

Oooh, I could use the toilet piece!

I knew someone who put leds in the indicators on the vw campervan and when the ball hits the right slingshot the right indicator flashes and vice versa on

The best van mod I've seen is the Maisto Samba "Old Friend." Looks awesome in there, but the 1:25 scale that you need is getting to be kind of a pain to find for a decent price.

You gotta point it does look good and suitable for the themeimage-371.jpgimage-371.jpg

#19 10 years ago

I think I am going to paint my existing van and see what happens!

#20 10 years ago

NOS translite is sold as well as the toilet. I have the doghouse available as well as a factory van I just found. PM thanks Joe

1:25 scale is what is needed? Just looked online and it appears the 1:25 scale van is only 4.3 inches long? Seems pretty small compared to the blue van that comes standard, no? Anyone have a picture of this Samba van installed?

The hippie van above is 1:25 scale. I had the old friends installed in my jy and the size was perfect.

#24 10 years ago

Yea 25

Yea they are wrong....think about it 25x4.3" is 107.5". Those VW vans were longer than 8.96' (from the factory anyways)

#25 10 years ago

shorty.jpgshorty.jpgThis is why I said from the factory

#26 10 years ago

Ahh, okay, thanks! I'm on the hunt for one now (cheap). Would definitely look much nicer then the plain blue van.

#27 10 years ago

Okay, van aside ... anyone know of any other mods that can be bought/added to this game?

#28 10 years ago

Laseriffic has an awesome topper

image.jpgimage.jpg
#29 10 years ago

Yep, got the topper last week. And yes ... it IS awesome!! Joe did an amazing job on this one!

#30 10 years ago

I put white LEDS in the front of the van for head lights wired to GI , I also put red LEDS in the rear for brake lights and wired to the coil stop on the bus loop I will get some pics out

Yep, and as you can imagine, it looks even better in person. I believe it is actually 4 separate layers altogether so it really has a 3D feel/depth to it.

You can pick this mod up at your local 7-11. Loaded with gumballs, but sadly no power ball.

I honestly don't understand how this is a good strategy. I haven't had the game long so I need some practice but the sewer shot is not a no-brainer. I can't back-hand the shot ... I can only make it from the left flipper. If I don't make the shot I've now got the ball moving sideways across the playfield and frequently towards the outlane (a risky shot for me right now.) Additionally ... getting a video mode is not automatic either. I'm most frequently rewarded only 50k points (5 pieces of trash). Or I might get another mode like "Knight mode"? Not a video mode. So perhaps I'm just not a pro yet on this game but it certainly doesn't seem like a good strategy (or an easy one) to me.

I've heard this one, but I'm confused on it, too. How does hitting the sewer repeatedly give you a high score? I can readily backhand the sewer, which is how I always do the shot, but I've never done it enough times to notice that it awards a video mode? The only time I've noticed scores on the sewer are from skill shots.

#38 10 years ago

Skill shot maybe?
Perhaps they meant alley versus sewer?
Alley is much easier and always awards shoot the dog or run from spike.

#39 10 years ago

I've found my high score games have a lot to do with getting large bonus with multipliers from completed missions and getting junk early in the game.

Now THATS a rusty van. Good job. I had this pin but sold it. Kinda miss it due to the kudos it gave out to the other games. It was a blast to play.

#43 10 years ago

That is the ugly blue van that came with the pin. It was just reimagined!

#45 10 years ago

Does Anyone know what the plug at the top of the playfield was for? There is a whole bunch of red and yellow wires so I'm assuming it was for a whole bunch of controlled lamps. Maybe something the accountants axed before production? Johnny Mnemonic has a big hole in the underside of the playfield that I'm thinking was some other cool feature that got the axe too...

Any records of prototype games having different features?

#46 10 years ago
