Quoted from EJS:What’s funny is that last one didn’t taste anything like the rest/ Davidoffy I was like…Ryan would like this one.
That cigar was interesting…it opened with borderline overwhelming earth tones. After two or three puffs, it settled down and was straight Davidoff white label. At about the halfway point, for some reason I still don’t understand, I used a toothpick in three spots to open the draw (I’d had no issues with draw, burn or construction) blew through it rather than puffing, and waited a minute or so. The proceeding next puff was a totally different experience. It was like drinking Cheerwine from a leather cup. The cherry and leather were present but subtle. The smoke was drastically thicker and the cigar went from a 3/10 strength to about a 6/10. Overall, it just became a much better cigar.
I wish I knew what possessed me to do this. The stab and purge isn’t a regular move, old man trick I was taught, anything I’ve tried before. But now I’m thinking I may try it on a few cigars in my regular rotation and see wha happens (though I’m honestly thinking I won’t be able to duplicate the results and the changes were actually the cigar and not my little stunt)
