Perfect example of simple, fast, and fun! Surprisingly the most played game in my collection! Highly under-rated game because of poor theme and poor backglass.

Rollergames is a good pinball game with an absolutely horrible theme.

The Pros:
Shots to be made everywhere. In particular the 1-2-3-extra ball lane requires sniper like aim. The magnet by the upper flipper is implemented incredibly well and not seen again until Stern-Elvis. Multiball is incredibly fast and scoring the JP from the upper flipper is TOUGH! Your biggest points are on multiball and the "WILLIAMS" pit shot. Neither of them are easy to achieve. The combo shot is a daddy of the "Picard Maneuver"... super sweet!

The Cons:
I'm not a fan of the double kickout left outlane. It seems to be a waste of space and tech that slows down the ball on what could have been just like the F-14 "line of death" kicker. I'm not a big fan of Pat McMahon's artwork to begin with. The Pepsi logos make me want to hurl. I want to play pinball, not look at advertising and corporate logos (other than bally/williams, I mean... it is their game). You'd better keep the kickout lit, to the point where it will be your goal for the game. I'm not the biggest fan of the VUK random awards. Some people like the music... I'm not a fan of it.

The Takeaway:
Flippers had better be at full strength. Especially the upper flipper. That ramp is STEEP! This game plays like you would think a Steve Ritchie game would play, fast and furious. Overall, this game's a bit more stop and go than some of SR's other designs, but as a player, it's a great game on it's own. If you can get past the mank nasty theme and artwork. Give it a shot.

Update:
The music package on this game is growing on me. The sounds are solid too. But the ads on the PF and the art pax still suck donkey nards. Ooooooh lookkeee there... THERMOS! A great playing game that should have been themed anything else.

Update v.2:
This is not a complex game. It is a fun game. There is a lot of fun pinball in this box. When you get a nice copy to play with, this design shows it speed and it's quality of gameplay. The power on the 3rd flipper has to be good and the nylon bushing through the playfield needs to be fresh. Transmitting the force from the bat to the ball has got to be done properly as that ramp makes or breaks the gameplay with this design. That and the two solenoids on the left hand side of the playfield need to work or the ball never gets out of those areas.

Small bit of trivial information about this game: Share Data made PC \ video games like "Avoid the Noid".

Now you know.

Over-all, Rollergames is a fun pinball machine to play and it gets a thumbs-up.
Pretty fast action on this pin, w/ a lot of features, and great use of playfield space.
Lighting is very good.
Game design is excellent concerning use of diverters/ramps/rails/multiball/kick-outs & kick-backs
Artwork: cabinet -good, playfield -ok, backglass -not-so-good (needed more attractive ladies).
Speech & call-outs are ok in general, a few get old quick. The "Rollergames" chants are cool.

Great game. Horrible theme. Most people won't give this game the time of day because the TV show was notorious for being cancelled before this machine was released. If you overlook the theme and the horrible backglass art, Rollergames is a fun, deep game, with a fantastic rules set, nice flow, and outstanding music.

I have quite a few plays in this game. It is such a frustrating game but it keeps me coming back for more. Acheiving multiball is no small task and is very satisfying when you do. The machine go black and the crowd starts chanting "rollergames.. rollergames". Then all the balls are released down the right inlane at once.. which is frustrating because I usually lose one right away.
The backglass is cheesy at best but funny. The dude with the bald head and handlebar mustache is priceless. But the artwork isn't the best.
The sound is pretty good and the Rollergames theme song is quite addicting. The call outs aren't bad. When you finally get multiball the lightshow and the crowd chanting is very satisfying.
The gameplay is EXTREMELY fast. I have my machine at around 6-7 degrees. It has a decent amount of shots but the upper right flipper shot up the Wall is where the real scoring is.
Overall, it is a pretty fun pin. It is similar to Iron Man.. whereas it is fast and brutal with quick games but leaves you wanting to play just one more.

Very fast game! Bought this one because my wife wanted it. Now I like it just as much. Watching the balls runs around the wireform together (just like a real roller derby). Not heard much talk about lighting and GI but this game is outstanding! Lots of red flashers and playfield lights. I plan to LED the entire machine next week but even without it, the lights are amazing. The artwork needs to be regarded for what it is . . . roller games was a real TV show and back then it was mostly men that played unlike today. Music IS repetitive but it works well in the moment of the game. This is a KEEPER at our house (also have TOM and DE Simpsons)

Brutal theme, but a fun, fast pin. I love how the locked balls get fired around the wireform loop on the right. "Go for the wall!" and "Rock..rock...rockin rollergames" can get old.

I think the roller derby theme is cool. Roller derbys are entertaining. I think this pin is based on an old tv show on rollerderby competitions that didnt make it. I think if a new roller derby show came out it would do better these days. This game is real fun lots of different targets it has a great multiball play/ The music is good for the early 90's not great for the 2000's. The lighting is great and the cost of owning one is a killer deal for what you get. The cabnet art I like better then the backglass or playfield art but the game is real fun and doesnt ever get boring.Steve Richie designed a great playfield on this.

An older game with a lot to offer in my opinion. Has a good layout with plenty of shots and good flow. This is a very underrated pin. Playfield art brings the machine down a bit but still very fun to play.

The game plays great with great flow. The artwork and theme are the killers. Actually, if they switched the backglass to only women it would look much better.

No one really gives RG a chance. RG is fun & plays a lot like High Speed. The theme choice is awful, but is actually well integrated if you remember the show. Watching the balls not in play, travel the wireform, gives the illusion that they are skaters. Magnet prep'd shot to the "The Wall" ramp mimics the assist move from the TV show. Shot is similar to the freeway loop in HS. Lock device works the same as HS red light, only instead of stand-ups you shoot drop targets. Some good sfx & memorable quotes. "GO FOR THE WALL!". Music is incredibly cheesy, but also infectious. You'll be singing along with the lyrics ("Rock-Rock-Rockin Rollergames") & dancing to the jackpot tune. "KICK BUTT!" Very light ruleset. You only have a few shots to make & game can become extremely repeticious. The art is pretty bad. The Bananarama-esque spandex chicks look attractive, while unnecessary men on the backglass (wearing cheetah pattern spandex) look awful. Pin sells for very little & is a fun game overall.

As mentioned, a very good pin from Williams that you do not see much of. I enjoyed it but have not seen one in years yet if I ever do I will go right up to it and plunk in every quarter I have.

worth a look.
