A very fun game with many gimmicks and objectives. Really shines with upgraded speakers. This was my first Data East and did notice the quality in build mentioned by so many others. A great pin for the price.

I give this game a 10 out of 10 & highly recommend this pin.

I've played pinball for years now & I've played all the highly ranked games, but LAH is something else, keeps me coming back again & again, just a great game all round.
Very deep lots of modes & multiballs. This is my favourite game & all my guests end up spending most of their time on this one. Can't believe it's not ranked higher. A sleeper title for sure.

Take away
If you find this game spend some time with it, it will surprise you, lots of fun!

Under rated game. The crane is very impressive toy. Shaker as well fun inside the cabinet. And 2 scoop makes job. Juste the backglass with disproportional head of Arnold S. is horrible. The rest, it's a good game from Data East.

A fun game that any skill level can enjoy. For the price, a great buy. Lots of modes, plays fast and is really enjoyable.

If Data East created TSPP, this would be that game. 12 modes. 3 six-ball multiballs. Smart missiles for added strategy. Everything is synced up well, and it might be the best game by DE - they were on a roll this year! But the backglass makes no sense to people unless they've seen the movie. What's the cartoon cat doing there? Why is Schwarzenneger's head so immense and huge? Even though it was based on a pretty bad movie, it's still worth a play.

Really enjoyed this machine, even with it being hamstrung by a license from a movie that really flopped and having obtuse/rules in need of updating. The crane is a neat toy/gimmick. Also somehow ended up with a five ball multiball at one point.

Last Action Hero - Might be the underrated pinball of the century!!! This is the gem of my collection, and I have several games "ranked" higher that just do not compare. This game plays amazing, looks great with LED's, and is packed with amazing features. Drop targets, a huge crane, 6 ball multiball, 3 scoops, a spinner, magnets, shaker... oh yeah. This would be a LE by today's standards!!!

They should really look at bringing updates out for these older machines, this game has so many imbalances and the rule set seems out of whack that if they updated at he code.......it could be a good machine.

The pros: Lots of fun and well integrated mode if you like DE style modes.
The crane is fun.
The shots that are worth shooting for are usually not too hard to make.
Soundtrack and Dot animations are better than many WMS games.

GREAT light show at the beginning of every mode! They really outline clearly what has to be done to finish the round in a simple but effective way. (Edited 2013/04/14)

The lows: Ball hangup on drop targets.
Crane gets out of ajustment often.
Playfield art is great in some parts but look basic in others.
Some unbalanced risk vs reward makes some shots worthless. Same with some combos.
The game could have some more flow with extra combos added (Edited 2013/04/14)

the End: If the theme don't put you away play a game or too and see if it is for you. Turning the crane off is a good option to keep the flow faster during heated four player games.

Great game with a mix bag of easy, medium and hard shots wich makes it versatile. (Edited 2013/04/14)

One of the best bangs for the buck in pinball!

The GOOD: Lots of features to complete (with many different shots). Many multi-ball modes and each one has different objectives and play style. Animation is great and really fits the theme. No major random score modifiers so competition scores seem fair.

The BAD: Backglass isn't great (but it's really grown on me), playfield art is blah but again it has grown on me over the 20 years I've owned it, and the crane isn't that great of a toy (it can slow down ball restarts in a multiplayer game if you want a chance at making the skillshot). The slingshot plastics are the some of the ugliest I've ever seen on a pinball (next to RBION) and I don't even get how the artwork relates to the game. Cat Millions shot can be a ball drainer. Some shots are too hard (captive balls) or too risky (Cat Millions) for the value, but at least you can activate multiple features during most features.

The VERDICT: A keeper and a great value. I can really get into pinball zen on this machine on a good night!

Very decent game. My parents really seemed to enjoy it, a lot, but it really wasn't my thing.

DE threw pretty much every idea they had into this pin. Magents, kickback shot, shaker motor, captive balls, and so forth. The crane is a cool toy as well, although a ball should immediately eject into play when the crane captures a ball as having to watch it cross the pf gets tiresome. There's also a good number of modes and multiball features that have some good variety. Yet with as many features and shots as this game has, it just turned out "ok" for me. The clunky feel and boring theme just didn't give me that need for "one more game" as so many other pins do.

Last Action Hero had every possibility to be a good game. It's just an semi-OK game instead.

The Pros: A good PF design with the exception of the two kickout holes in the middle of the pf. The Crane is a great toy. Death Save showing Dean Grover is rad!

The Cons: A really big Schwarzenneger head. The artwork is does not look finished. Ruleset is standard DE unbalanced/untested blather with a bit more to it than most.

The Takeaway: Using the smart bomb/missle button in the LAH sequence is cool strategy, but this is right out of Jurassic Park. I guess I could say that the game is better than the movie (I used to own a DemoMan), but is that really saying much? Many people talk about it as a bang for your buck table, but I'm just not feeling it. There are so many good bits to this game and it just feels slapped together. The package does not come together as it should. This is a shame because I get the idea that alot of people put some thought and effort into this deck. Some pinheads love this game, and I was rooting for it the first few (dozen) times I played it and then...

meh..

Update:
So much to do. Ramp, vuk, ramp, vuk, ramp, vuk... I like the crane during multiball. But still, meh.

Even if I didn' love the movie, I'd still love the this pinball table. The art may be subpar, but everything else is great. Probably my favorite Data East pin ever.

My first pin, and a blast to play, even my gf loves it, btw 6 ball Mb is rediculous, shaker motor, i got this for less than a grand. Huge bang for your buck!

Does not matter that this is Data East or that it's based off a pretty bad movie . . . it's a great pin! Everyone says it's under rated but I'm not sure how it could even get low ratings. Fast, fun and flow are all outstanding. Only nitpicks are backglass art and GI lighting in middle above flippers (it's too dark). Other than that, lot's of fun. Great skillshot using gun, nice feature of missile to collect all lit targets. Bets multiball of any game I've played (6) and the shaker motor is VERY well integrated into game adding a ton to the experience and fun. Add cliffys to all 3 holes and add a new translight from Ebay and you're good to go!
