Nice game, fast and fun. Cool toy the outer track.

Update:
Ok, i have to give this game some more credit, the countdown i just love --> with the ball wooshing around the track.

I like the fast pace, strategy and stacking stuff, getting a free ball is "tough" and so on...good thinking!

I actually like this one more compared to my getaway but that might be too early to be sure.

I'am pleased to notice that this game is so underrated. That allowed me to buy it at a reasonable price. You have a nice young pinball for the price of an old mediocre pinball of the beginning of the 90's.
It is al lot of fun to play it with the family and it is not to complicated for a novice.
Although Pat Lawlor is a great pinball designer, the games he made for Stern are not that popular as those he made for Bally/Williams. Very strange!!!

I like fast pins and this one doesnt dissapoint, fast fast fast it is.

The track on the outside is an amazing toy and seeing the ball spin round while other balls are in play is great. Perhaps not a pin for the true pinhead who want deep ruleset but this game can be played purely for fun.

I like it and people who come to play it have fun to. And after all, playing pinball is all about fun

Not a bad game, but certainly not the best. Pretty fun, with fairly long lasting ball-time. Feels a little light or cheap after playing a 90s Williams / Bally. Absolute boring backglass.

Repaired one at work. Then played for a while. Disappointment. Then done everything I know to do it faster and more interesting. Then re-played. I wanted to like it. I failed.

im really suprised this machine is ranked so low,i really had a blast on it,it was the one i went back to,time and time again,it really was a great machine an would like one one day,not sure how a serious player will take it ,but im casual so it was great, the back glass could of been better, but playfield art is great,im not even into car racing and really enjoyed, definatly underated,i recomend to give this one a shot!!!!! Update 2016.. I've owned this game for the last few years, it's a game that non pin heads really gravitate to because it's easy to understand , start modes by hitting the car twice, the games very mode based which works well with me, some really great multiball modes like hauler ride, doubt your ever going to see a game with a mode that cool again, hitting the hauler to climb positions is good, collecting race letters to lock balls up , an most importantly collecting CHAMP letters to get the mini wizard , also hard racing an speed shots are a great way to score, the playfield is nice an open an it's obvious the main attraction is the track running on the outer of the playfield which is cool, I think this game is very underrated an if your thinking about it definatly give it go it very fun, you can't denie it feels a little cheap, but pinball was struggling to survive when this game was brought out, but pat Lawlor did the best he could on the budget an he still made a good game which is both family friendly an a lot for the player, problem is a lot players slag this off without even giving it a shot, it plays nice an fast an easy to understand , saying this though my time with Grand Prix might be coming to end, an time to move it on for somthing else, but honestly this game is great fun, an a real hit both newbies, casual players an even the more competitive should be ranked a lot higher in my opinion...

This one surprised me , a Stern 2005 , had not really heard of it , Playfiled looked open and a bit gimmickery and small. The surprise was its not that bad. The accelerated ball makes probably the best ball start of any game out there, feed the ball in it whizzes around the outside of the playfield and in. Liked in . Dont think it would have lastability but for a quick bit of fun it was a blast

Grand Prix is a bit of a gimmick table. This is the first time I have said this about any Lawlor design and it pains me to do so.

The Pros:
This game kind of feels like safecracker in it's smaller pf layout. The rules are simple and fun. This game has more flow than any other Lawlor design out there. The drop targets are worth shooting for on this table

The Cons:
Grand Prixas a theme works well for this layout, of course it could be much worse. It could be Nascar. This game has to be well maintained and unlike Getaway, when the supercharger magnets go... the game is not dead in the water. Some modes are worthless, others are worth more than wiz modes. The ruleset needs some serious work Bash the car gets old quick.

The Takeaway:
This is a fun game that could use quite a bit of tweaking to get it "just right". It's a passable pin-deck as long as you don't take it seriously. Not to be seen in any serious tournaments soon if ever. A great game for the kiddies and the fans of F1 racing.

Enjoyed playing this game. Decent flow. Sounds were a bit repetative, but not too annoying to me. Back glass art not so good. Cabinet art work good. Playfield layout/lighting/artwork all good. Ball launch w/ pinball racing around outer track is a good feature. Varying the hi score required to get a free game is ok w/ me. Thankful that machine has a timer to grant a free ball if current ball in play drains quickly. Ramps & rails are fine. I will be happy to play this game occasionally out at a location, but not on my wishlist to own.

Basicly Stern released this and NASCAR at the same time and they identical games. One has a grand prix car on it and they other has a stock car. Same gimmicks and playfield lay out. Both are horrible games and extremely boring.

Underrated machine.
OK - So the “fan” layout is a little overused nowadays….
But this machine really does have fantastic flow, good rules and descent sound. The playfield looping ball launch sequence and spinner sounds are pure genius. I just wish the outer playfield loop could be accessed during gameplay somehow ?
Seems this is not possible/intended….Too bad.
Very good effort from Stern. Poor quality control -- machine requires many adjustments to play right. NOTE: Same machine as Nascar and Dale Earnhardt.

This game is fast, furious and fun to play! The race track around the playfield is an incredible cool gimmick and draws you into the game. The sounds that goes along with that is also great. The overall layout is fast and there a lot of bal flow. The game is not as easy as some of the other Sterns (which sometimes seem a bit 'to easy' to me) ball times are definately shorter than those games. There's enough to do, the modes are versatile and the game kept me coming back for more. Pat Lawlor did an incredible job both inventing something new and still making it play as good as any other Lawlor machine. But this may be his fastest flowing machine to date! Too bad the backglass art is as ugly as it is. On the other hand, the playfield art looks quite nice. Another negative is the game lighting, the game is a bit dark in its general illumination (GI) department. Highly recommended, even if you have nothing with the Formula 1 theme. One final note: this game is the same as Sterns 'Nascar'.
