    Quoted from pinballinreno:

    Every pinball machine needs:
    Tape
    Drywall screws
    Wire-nuts
    nails
    keys
    paper clips
    wire ties
    rubberbands
    Or they wont work right.

    From IPDB re Xenon:
"The artwork is not the same as the production Xenon - Paul Faris went back and airbrushed the art to make it look better for the 4-color process. At least one or two games were made with this overlay."

So there you have it....the one being sold so rare...only one or two were made.

    Quoted from cottonm4:

I'm trying to understand the logic for the green shrink tube at that connector pin.

I have had to do the same thing... I use clear and/or black shrink tubing.
    Because:
    1) The wire jacket pulls away from re-flowing fresh solder to the wire strands.
    or
    2) The wire jacket melts away/curls away from the fresh solder, exposing
-- a lot more stranded wires.

So many things wrong with that picture I don't know where to begin.
But aside from all of the oddness, I am not sure what the blue splice sitting in the fuse holder even did for the game? Plastic doesn't conduct power very well....

Errant bits of plastic, used rusty twist ties, rotten sticky rubber bands, solder splashes, beer can pull tops etc., should not be removed.

    Its called PATINA!

Collectors in NYC love that stuff.

    Rat rods anyone?

It's a butt-splice. You insert a stripped end of wire in each end. Inside is a metal tube. You crimp the splice in the middle and it secures the two wires together. And yes, It shouldn't conduct in a fuse holder since the blue part is an insulator.

Use .22 magnum to replace a slow blow fuse. .22 LR for standard fuses and .22 short for fast acting fuse replacment. Information from Moe Ron`s book of pinball repair.

    You forgot hot glue.

Why didn't Gottlieb think of that?

Good for another 40 years. Why didn't Gottlieb think of that?

Why use pc boards? Just hot glue the compnents to the playfield and twist them together!

Hot glue is the great savior of pinball.....

    Quoted from Tallon:

I have a fishing boat that is completely wired with brown lamp cord. No fuses, nothing is labeled and not much works. The person that did that should be hung. My boys and I plan to totally rewire this winter with things like marine wire, fused distribution blocks and LABELS. We have put a whole bunch of hours on it this summer. Winter is project time.

That's nothing compared to the server room at my work (wish I could get a pic). First you have to trudge throw a foot deep of trash (coffee cups, discarded wiring, and straight up trash) to walk through, wires hanging from the ceiling everywhere, box fans tied to the server racks with trash bags, alarms going off everywhere, stagnant water everywhere, UPS's years past serviceable dates.
    (Typical government setup)

Hard to believe any business runs like that. My industry is distribution. I guess the big box stores don’t care if they lose a distribution center for the short term. They simply don’t invest the money to maintain them properly…..

Not a business, state building. They also had a service contract on the UPS's, but never even used it, our MIS never bothered to return any correspondence from the provider. O, and that part of the building has been condemned for years.

You know whats even better? Some Rvs have huge bundles of unlabeled wiring harnesses that are all purple or all green. They're supposed to have the circuit name printed on the wire but there are some out there that are blank. Dicks..

Unacceptable. Worse than hot glue and duct tape. The "accepted method" should be re-pinning that Molex connector.

Fortunately, it's not. It came from Clay's Guide.

It looks horrible but since it's grounds what is the worry? That it will accidentally short to...ground? And the issue it fixes is that some of those lines have bad connections and are floating. Now they all share the same connection.

I like to use a buss bar instead of doing this but it's functionally the same.
