Yes, agreed. The left orbit shot looks very satisfying. And sci-fi themes always win with me.

Quoted from Jesder:My first EM - Gottlieb Space Orbit. Owned for about 18 months now.
An add-a-ball machine that was originally exported to Italy and then imported here to Australia
Very cool backglass and well incorporated artwork into Playfield design layout.
Wish my GTB Outer Space had this "MiniCycle/Polo" PF layout design.
A few things about the backglass that might not be obvious from those photos is the top left section has a series of lights to indicate the score rolling. In add-a-ball mode, it will light up 100,000 (so your max score in that setting is 199,990). In novelty mode you can go all the way up to 1,099,990.
Another use of the artwork is the 5 small coloured planets that appear to the left of the game title. As you earn free balls, the planets will light up one by one to show how many you've banked.
All of these export versions have five symbols of some type on the backglass to covertly indicate extra balls. It was, of course illegal to win anything, including extra balls on the pins in Italy.
I got my first EM a Bally Hang Glider. I won it in a drawing the last night of our league. It is going to be on location at the arcade that hosted our league for a couple of months. It is currently set on two plays for $.25 I would like to change it to one play for $.25 but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Can anyone tell me how to change it, pictures would be awesome.
Quoted from DirtFlipper:And in playing it some more, I'm noticing a few quirks that need to be addressed, but that's minor stuff. It's a hoot to play.
It is a magnificent game! Glad you got one!
Quoted from DirtFlipper:It's amazing what pops up around here sometimes...
(Some day I might even get around to rebuilding this one.)2015Sep06_001.jpg 2015Sep06_002.jpg 2015Sep06_003.jpg 2015Sep06_004.jpg
Wow DF, that looks really nice. Looking forward to your review of this one. Can it hold it's own in The DirtFlipper Collection?
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:It is a magnificent game! Glad you got one!
I remember when I had one.
But I do have that Capersville up and running now and it is a suitable replacement. Very, very fun.

It can hang out for awhile. For now.
In my opinion, Fireball (1972) is a winner and worthy of the hype. A perfect strike to the messenger ball is a particularly satisfying precursor to multiball. Congrats, Dirtflipper.

This was one of my favorite parts of this game. Getting the Odin bonus to stop on 5000 pts. just as you whack that captive ball and having that bell ring five times as the balls release was always a great moment.
I wish I had money. I would actually drive to Phoenix to cash and carry the Bally Surfers that is for sale on CL. The Capersville you got is an amazing game! I love that game and hope to own one someday.

It truly is. But I'll put your name on it just in case. It is a nice survivor.

Nice looking game.

I bet there's a few switches and relays in that one huh?
Quoted from kovalski3:If I knew it was that nice , I would have bought it. Lol
Enjoy!
I got 5 hours into just cleaning it up....the mechanics is going to cost me many endless hours.

Wow, Vic. That game looks cool. It'll be a real beauty when you're done with it, I'm sure. Can't wait to play it. Although you are the bingo king, you told me that you have never played a United bingo. That's really amazing. I guess Ballys were far and away more common. Glad you rescued this one.
United internal mechanical parts are different than Bally bingos. The playfield design is a tiny bit different with no plastic pillar tower lights and less springs and more. If you look at the pictures carefully of a Bally Gay Time and the United Tropics you will find out just how different they are.
I had a couple of Olympics but their condition wasn't great. Yours looks pretty nice. Tough player to beat, but when you get a sensational game it really feels good.
Yes, its a tough game, hard to get past 7 or 8 cities. Probably why Im liking it so much. Someone added a post between the flippers which made it too easy. I filled the hole with wood filler but am still experimenting with how to camoflauge it
It has been awhile since anyone posted anything new,
so here goes,
as i finally set up my BLY Star Jet
in a spare upstairs bedroom that i am converting
to a mini EM gameroom.
Photos are not the best as the lighting and glare is bad,
Will try taking some more when it gets dusky.
And maybe tell a little bit of the story about how i acquired this pin.

Wow, lovely.... if it were mine I'd turn into a Jetsons project!!!!!
Quoted from AlexSMendes:if it were mine I'd turn into a Jetsons project!!!!!
I am thinking of doing that to the cabinet and head,
since someone along the way,
way back when, decided to paint the cab a solid dark green
and it also appears it was painted a solid red/brown prior to that,
by looking at the top of the head and under the leg bolts.
Hopefully some "goof off" paint remover will reveal the original graphics.
Quoted from pinwiztom:I am thinking of doing that to the cabinet and head,
Yeah, definitely!
Hard to imagine them getting away with that any more. Lots of nostalgic value for those of us who grew up with the Jetsons.
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Yeah, definitely!
+1
This is really a hard to find beauty... Please re paint...You will not regret it.... 100%
Here's a few shots of my Drop A Card. Complete restoration, someone had sanded off all the paint and stained the cab, I guess to make it look like furniture. Looked like crap instead.
This was a full restoration, including taking it completely apart (including the score motor) and cleaning and polishing the whole thing. Thanks to Boilerman who had already made the stencils, since I had nothing to go on to make my own, and also Ron Webb for an absolutely stunning backglass. And also to PBR for liberating me of way more money than I should have spent on this.
Coincidentally
When I bought this game (BLY Star Jet) from a guy in Minnesota, (about 7 yrs ago)
I also ending up buying a WMS Blast Off from someone else in Minnesota
to get the 2for1 shipping with NAVL.
just arrived, a gottlieb oklahoma..first saw this game for sale around 17 years ago and fell in love with the backglass..had to wait 17 years for the same game to become available again.
the backglass is shot but will order a replacement from backglass resto..plan a ground up restoration and have already pulled down the game and will start on stripping the paint off the cab today.
playfield is very nice and will only need a small amount of touchup..
there is something about those gottlieb 4 players from the early 1960's that gets me everytime.20150922_172514.jpg
Here is the current lineup, powered on and ready to play.
The Utah is fun to play but will probably be for sale or trade in time to make room for the Williams Grand Champion.
All three games were gone through before I got them and play well.
I think the Paul Bunyan needs the cabinet and backbox repainted because the paint on other side is badly flaking off..
Have better coin plate, chutes, etc to put back on it after repaint.
