MatchPlay and Leaderboard Challenge in Long Beach

This will be a Group Match Play tournament with 8 rounds of 1 game each for qualifying rounds. Top 8 (if this is less than half of the total) will compete in a group elimination bracket to determine the winner. If attendance is over 30 players, finals will be top 12 with top 4 players receiving a bye. A non-sanctioned $5 consolation tournament for cash and prizes will be held after the qualifying rounds if there is interest.

Entry fee is $9 + $1 IFPA FEE plus coin-drop.

Tournament details:

Doors Open at 11am.
Tournament Starts at Noon.

-We are running a MatchPlay tournament using MatchPlay events.
-There will probably be 12 machines in use.
-Machines used TBD tournament day.
-Players will be grouped in groups of threes or fours. There will be a qualifier of 8 separate rounds of one match. This means every player will play 8 matches in total to qualify for the finals.
-In each round each group will play a single game on a randomly selected machine.
-For the first round, grouping will be random.
-After the first round pairings will be swiss.
-At the close of the 8th round, the highest ranking players will advance to finals
-Finals are group MatchPlayCash for 1st and 2nd, Prizes for 3rd and 4th (with consolations)
-2 games will be set aside for a leaderboard high score contest that runs all day from when the brewery opens to the end of the qualifiers. Players can play those games during or between rounds all day and prizes will be awarded before finals. Top three leaderboard scores on each game will win prizes.
