A good overall game for the time period.

I like targeting the double spinners and the staggered sequence drop target gives you something specific to shoot for.

Sounds are basic bleeps and boops, but standard for the era.

Artwork is very colorful on the playfield.

Definitely a fun game to put some time on. . . I find myself hitting the credit button again and again.

Played a solid copy at the VFW show; moved to my classic stern wantlist immediately. It's pretty forgiving with no left outlane and a nudge-save on the right - but getting anywhere is tricky, the spinners feel great, and the right outlane still eats balls if you try to trap too much since it'll roll out. Genuinely like the playfield and cab art.

Update: Picked up a decent one, shopped it out, one of my favorite classic stern layouts.

I have access to a Trident near me. I enjoy it. Not sure if it’s a game I would ever own, but I really like the ruleset, and it makes me play a little more defensively since attempting to trap on the right can often make the ball roll up the guide and into the outlane since the inlane has a gap. I also like that there is a chance to recover by nudging back onto the ball guide when the ball hits the bottom outlane rubber.

Spinners are fun to rip, and I love the drop target rules. I like that there is no left outlane to worry about too.

There are so many of these older Sterns I haven’t played, but I am finding myself really liking them. Trident is one of the best ones I’ve played. I wish the art were better, it’s really the only thing that brings the game down.

This is a really fun layout that any casual player friends love right off the bat. There is only a single out lane on the right with Sterns play more post making it feel like 2, and no outlane on the left. There is a single 5 bank of controlled drop targets set up in a way to make it a fun and slightly challenging shot. There are 2 spinners that are amazing to rip when set up properly. There are also 2 pop bumpers and 4 slings that throw the ball around like crazy and help the player to hit the line of stand up targets. After I clear coated the playfield it plays fast with a lot of action.

Adding the BSOS Arduino controller code for new rules and call outs really let’s the game shine. It’s a fantastic classic game that is just a ton of fun.

Fun game when well maintained, bonus being advanced through upper slings is the only off putting thing about the game. Drops add to bonus multiplier, stand ups light spinners for added value. Unique lower playfield very overlooked game in mho. Octo chicken art is awesome.

I've enjoyed this Stern more than most of the new ones. Huge bang for your buck. Fast and fun.

I think this is an underated game probably due to its age and the campy artwork. The game can be very fast and with four slingshots and two pop bumbers it can be very tricky to keep things under control which make it all the more interesting and boosts the replay value in my opinion. The targets are all reachable but again tricky to keep the ball under control all the time. When you light up the spinners you can really work up the score. Simple but very workable rule set that keeps you coming back for more.

Definitely hard to compare to some of the newer pins out there, but this machine is pretty solid for it's age with plenty of scoring options including two sets of spinners, a kickout hole at the top of the playfield, two bumpers, and a bank of drop targets. While Trident does not scream high quality from a theme or animation perspective(Not a big fan of the Back Glass), it does have enough going for it that it keeps my kids and I busy. Overall, I would rate it as an above average pin for its time.

A very simple game, quick & challenging. I really like it. It has a post between the flippers and a unique post on the right outlane that allows you to nudge the ball back into play. The stand up targets award extra ball then specs, and the drop targets bonus X and specs. Ball times were short, but you could clock up games quickly. I bought this machine off an operator in 1983. He said it was a lemon, he never made any money out of it. For me it was the highest earning game on location - I tuned it perfectly and handed out plenty of free games (because game times were short it didn't matter).

The ruleset/code in this one is identical to Cosmic Princess, except that the saucer in CP collects bonus.

I score this game about 8/10. My pinside rating scores very low on sound - can't do much with only three tones.

My first game and a popular one among my friends. There is some great action in this game and that tricky right outlane prevents you from trapping, so beware.

I owned Trident for about a year and it was my first pin so im a bit biased. I loved trident and i played it every day. its very simple but addictive. Trident is the only pin that i have regreted getting rid of. will have another one day.
