One of the machines in my personal collection. Can't go wrong with the theme and the artwork. Some of the sound effects can get annoying, especially C3PO "suggesting you shoot the extra ball". The center ramp is the key to the game, making it a little overly simplified for a long lasting entertaining game. Overall very solid. The Star Wars theme definitely carries it.

Not the best flow game I have played but was good fun. Has some neat toys that remind you of days past but overall I think this game was just better than average. Fun game to play and I would drop a quarter in this game if I saw it out anywhere but I think there are a lot of things they could have done to make this game even more fun than it is.

Great Pinball to collect. The back glass art way cool. The death star is great to blow-up for double jackpot."Great shot kid, that was one in a million".Add a sub-woofer to enhance the effect. This pinball is fun .(Drop Targets) love drop targets!!! Data East's Star Wars Pinball should be in the top 35.Good bang for your buck. One of Borgs greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great artwork. R2D2 toy is cool. DMD animations are good. Shots are way too easy, especially that ramp. Kinda hard to miss it even when you try. Good number of modes though. Backgound music is a Manheim Steamroller's version of the Star Wars theme. Annoying but the quality is good. Fast playing. Rules are way unbalanced. Spam the ramp for points.

A fun game and the playfield is intreguing to me. I like the number of modes that are true to the theme. Drop targets are fun, and it doesn't get much better than shooting the open death star.

For the bad...
I think this is a game that is more fun in a personal collection than played in an arcade. I only say that because the default settings make the ramp to point heavy. After a few adjustments (even to the right flipper to avoid repeated shots), this game feels totally different and much more balanced. I still play this alot after owning it for sometime now.

this is my ultimate pin-grail. i used to play this one back in the day...the only place that had it was across town. we'd pile 3 or 4 of us in the car and drive 20 minutes just to play this pin.

the gameplay isn't the best and it's not for everyone, that's a given. i love the theme...it doesn't get any better than classic star wars for me. the playfield toys (R2 and the death star) are great. i love the classic star wars music. IIRC, the speech was from sound-alikes and not the real thing, but it didn't really bother me that much. the cab is great and the backglass doesn't get any better for star wars fans.

not much else i can say...i'm a huge star wars fan & a huge fan of this pin.

i'll have one in the collection one day.

edit: it appears my recollection of the sound was not accurate: there are a mix of real quotes & sound-alikes (for the pinball-specific quotes). great sound overall!!

edit 2: i own one now. love it. it won't leave my collection.

There are some really fun Data Easts out there...Star Wars is not one of them. WAY too slow with all the stopping for animations that you can't skip. Good looking pin but it's just boring compared to, you know, other pins.

I am a Star Wars fan, and love the theme. This is better than average pinball, but not great. If it weren't SW, I know my rating would be much lower. That said, the toys, theme, etc. are all quite fun.

Meh... I was disappointed to win two matches. Poor soundalike samples. Just not that exciting. Even if you loved Star Wars I think you'd be disappointed.

my first data east, and i love it. quality of build is not up to bally williams, but i love its brashness and intensity. simple fun and addictive. love the four pops. i'm gonna upgrade the speaker as the sound quality is not great on mine. Loads of quotes and enough depth and shots to keep you entertained. it's a noisy machine, those large concave popbumper caps seem to amplify their action above normal pops.....* update* after a year with a nice cleaned and fully working machine i must say i still love this one. ToM has gone, TotAN has gone, JP has gone, and Scared Stiff has gone, but my DE Star Wars stays in its corner here. I still love to play it for a quick blast... more so over any of the above. The one thing i would say, if DE finished the code for the machine it would of been amazing. It's fine as is, but with a few more weeks of software coding this could of been, dare i say, a classic (given the SW license too). Ignore the comments about the easy ramp, just change the settings on the game to ramp save off (or on, can't remember now?) , or simply, stop hitting the ramp for big points over and over!? simples.

Like almost every celebrity-franchise oriented game, this is a little overrated. Not bad either, but everybody knows that DE pins are for movie and TV fans and not for the hardcore pinball crowd.
