It's a fun old Gottlieb with a fantastic theme. What's not to like?

1st pin I owned. The art is amazing! The game is fun. Sure it is slower as it is a wide body without modern toys, but that makes it the goto in my collection to just relax and jam some games.

This is a older state and does have Spidey the trash man. The old school series was alright. Spiderman pinball has the same effect. The game is super quiet and has that classic inlane art. The game was actually bigger than previous classic pinball. The game has that extra flipper effect and is Williams state of art still. It's a okay game which the hardcore like.

Game is truly a work of art.
1. The game is much quicker than people think
2. The scissor flippers cause havoc, making the game much more challenging
3. Open playfield can be challenging when aiming for targets at an attempt at a free ball.
4. Sounds are amazing, especially the idle sound, free ball sound, and sound when 123 are completed.
5. The artwork is incredible, truly one of the greatest out there. You don't have to be a Spider-Man fan to appreciate the artwork.
6. Light mods make this game look truly the AMAZING Spider-Man; the game mods up really nice.
7. It's Spider-Man!

Artwork on the playfield and backglass are excellent. The theme and illustrations really make it stand out. I found it to be a pretty slow game. It was not as fun as it looks, and other games I've owned from the era were more entertaining. In summary, looks great but mediocre gameplay.

If set up right this can be fast for a widebody. There is a lot of variation on the playfield and the art still holds up today. I own this but have played The Incredible Hulk at a couple of different locations and came away really disappointed in it. I can't believe Hulk is somehow rated higher. Everytime we have friends over they all love it. A fun game everybody can enjoy

This was the first pinball machine I have purchased and restored back from a rusty locked up machine back to perfect working order so I will always have some love and bias for this game. Beyond that its a great game from it's era. One of the Wide Body style machines it features a beautifully illustrated playfield that makes you think classic John Romita Spiderman era with great sketches of Kraven, Kingpin and the Scorpion along with a profile of Aunt May, J Jonah and Mary Jane. The backglass features another stunning Spider-Man illustration with heroes and villains in the background as he swings though the city.
It's hard to compare a pinball from years ago to one now as the technology has changed so much so what was fun before may seem lame now. For me this game is fun. It has a really nice long plunger shot which I love in games. It arcs across the top and has several pathways. Three ball drop and pops, a star roll and two switch lanes. It has centered pair of pop bumpers and Left Spinner lane a right back lane along 5 drop targets, a centered three drop target wall and a couple of ball hits. It has 4 flippers two staggered on the left side and on the right a double flipper lane.
The game play is simple but fun. Hitting the 5 drop targets to unlock the extra ball and then having to hit the triple drop targets to claim it seems simple enough but with the wide open playfield anything can happen.
I'm additionally biased being a comic book fan so for me this is one I fell in love with when I first saw it and knew one day I had to own one. When an auction for a lightly beat up commercial machine but locked shut for the past the past 30 years due to a rusted lock bar came up I had to go for it. This rusted lockbar may have saved and preserved the playfield from 30 years worth of play keeping it in great shape with minor wear and a smartly applied mylar layer over the art.

The artwork a simply amazing. The gameplay a pretty good, but nothing spectacular. If you are a big comic fan, however, this is a must-own.

I've always been a Spiderman fan since I was a kid so my appeal to the game is more nostalgic. It's a pretty good game but since it is a little older it does move a little slower than most. I'm glad that I have it but I probably play it the least out of all my other pinball machines.

This game is actually really a great player. Solid and fun. It is simple, yet always a pleasure to play. The rules are challenging, but not overwhelming. For a game of it's era, I find it one of my favorites. This is a game I can always go to and have a good time playing. I think it's one of the most underrated games out there. Lots of drop targets, decent combinations, and above all some of the most awesome artwork ever in a pinball machine. I happened to be a big Spiderman fan, especially by artist Johnny Romitta, legend has it that this Morrison basically just traced Romitta's artwork. That wouldn't surprise me, because it's exactly the way Romitta would have drawn this play field and backglass had he been assigned the task.
So, one of my all-time personal favorites and a real sleeper.

A very solid game, plays much better than I expected it to. Love the 70's style comic book art on the playfield and backglass.

This was my first pin I ever owned. I got new boards, displays, and had it professional serviced. When I got it home my family and I loved it. My wife loved the simple game play, my son and I loved the artwork and it was a blast. It's has a switch on the board that instead of giving you a free credit it gives you 50,000 points and 5 knocks. It was way fun to go for and hear the knocker go crazy when you got it. Honestly the only thing I absolutely hated about the pin is I was fixing it about every other month. Even with the new upgrades.

Pros:
Great artwork, fun shots, and if set up right can be a fun challenge.

Cons:
Upper flipper is pretty much useless and the whole pin is plagued by Gottlieb electrical issues.

Takeaway:
This pin is absolutely beautiful from backglass to playing field. Simple gameplay is fun but also challenging. Sound is decent for a pin that was one of the first to have sound. Great game to have for the family but get brushed up on your circuit board and sodering skills. Your going to need them.

For me to like a machine it's got to have great art and be fun to play, and this machine has both of those. The art is as it should be and looks terrific, though I wasn't a Kraven fan, I'd rather have The Rhino or Mysterio in there.
The audio...ho hum. I would love it if it played the 60's cartoon theme, or even some that poppy jazz stuff from the cartoon, but no such luck.Change it to the tones and turn down the volume and it's ok.

I think the game play is good. Yeah it's a wide table, but you need that room for all that cool art. One of the last good ones from Gottlieb, Bally and Williams were taking over. It's a winner.

Vibrant classic comic book color to this one. Well combined with the theme. Gameplay a little slow at times but improves with accurate shots.

Oh boy...ok as a previous owner, I fell entitled go give my opinion.

For comic book collectors - Great showpiece, amazing.

For pinball collectors - If you love the history of pinball, vintage machines and a 20+ collection, sure it's great to have\look at.

For a causal player - This is as fun to play as watching ice melt.

I liked the backglass, that's it.

This pin looks like it just jumped right out of a comic book! The game play is decent, though the outlanes are a brutal killer to me. Fun, but not overly exciting. Now the artwork and theme on the other hand, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING. The Amazing Spider-Man is awesome and certainly timeless. And they got the artwork right on this one for sure, looks just like the early 1980's Spider-Man comic books. The playfield and the backglass both have just perfect artwork, and the cabinet itself is an absolute beauty. Cabinet is silver with Spider-Man logos, and a webbing effect all over! Can't say enough good things about this game.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an interesting wide body pinball game of the early SS Gottleib vintage.

The Pros:
A varied PF with lots of shots across and around a big ol' playfield. The art package lends itself to the classic look and feel of those old Marvel comic books. When properly maintinted, is surprisingly fast.

The Cons:
Boring sounds and slow play if not set up properly. BG's are prone to flaking. Suffers from early Gottleib SS electronic issues.

The Takeaway:
A good game that relies on the building of bonus and shooting all over the entire PF. Get this game dialed and put it right next to your Gottleib Hulk pinball game for the perfect compliment to this classic early Gottleib SS table.

Update:
I got to play a game that was set up nicely and had the replacement board set in it. This game gave me a much better impression that other copies had in the past. This game now has much more to consider that I had originally thought.

1) Your first plunge, do you go for the pop bumper roll over (which lites the pops for 1k for the rest of the game) or do you try for A/B lanes?

2) The 3 saucers have to be collected to collect the bonus. Why have I not seen this feature on any other game out there?

3) Bonus X is king. I like the lit drop target on the right hand side of the table for bonus X. Unfortunately, there are so many other ways to increase your bonus X that it kind of negates the skill involved with this alternating shot. Adding extra green targets is awesome with collecting all 3 saucers at the top of the PF. However, by the time you've done this... you probably already have your bonus maxed at 5x already.

4) Still no real reason to use the upper flipper.

5) The standup at the top of the PF is a great shot... just not much reason to shoot it.

6) The spinner is a great shot, rip it!

7)When waxed as it should be, is surprisingly fast. In the same speed league as Paragon and Embryon.

Scores reworked in the positive. Still not a brilliant game, but it's better than I originally thought and that's always a nice surprise.
