Really fun game for what it is. This is an excellent intro game for new pinball players and even though it has an extremely shallow ruleset, the big toy and the relevance it has for scoring never loses its appeal. Going for the most field goals in one game adds a little to the depth of the game for good, not great replay value. This is very fun for parties, short mindless games and always good for a quick couple games when you're feeling like playing without having to think hard.

Pretty simple game, but a good football theme. The kickoff skill shot to set up the ramp shot is great. It's fun to play for football scores instead of pinball score. Adds interesting variety. The multiball play is a little boring unless you get the ramp up, but when you do, the fun meter goes way up! For a data east machine, it's a lot of fun! Not the excitement level of the williams games of the time, but definitely a great game while football is on the tube!

Boring, repetitive pin. Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf callouts were dull (“oh what a hit!”). Felt like they only recorded five. Not Data East’s best work.

Set the gameplay adjustments to hard, quicker timers and a few extra balls and you have a quick fun game.Just as good as many system 11s out there..

Monday Night Football is a very simple game. You have a handful of main shots. Left through the spinner to the VUK or Right through another spinner to a saucer to hold for multiball. Middle playfield has 2 standups that drain SDTM often, or you can shoot slightly to the left back up into the pops. You also have an extremely precise shot to the right ramp for the jackpot shot that feed your right flipper.

As an owner of this game, I actually was worried I'd bore quickly, but it is a fantastic casual game and the novelty play is what makes it a keeper for most. THE BIGGEST draw is the large field goal that pops up in the middle of the playfield along with the kickoff ramp. Making the "kick" and scoring a field goal is immensely satisfying and surprisingly brings the "One more game" feel.
Depth is definitely lacking, but for the theme and the fun factor, it can afford to be a bit of a shallow game. Football itself is rather basic, just run the ball 100 yards, then go for the field goal. Same concept, drive the ball for field goals.
The wizard mode is the most surprising feature of this game. You must make 8 LOOPS in succession to "Light Everything" which is pretty damn hard. My best so far is 7 loops and that felt impossible.

This game is for the casual owner looking for an easy, fun-for-everyone game. Nearly everyone will have some level of basic understanding, and when the ramp and field goal comes up, EVERYONE will love it. Great party game/drinking game/quick-play game.

Game is a lot of fun, but there's really not that much to it.... the field goal loop is VERY cool... Some of the sound effects are a bit rough.

All my reviews are going to follow a simple formula for those reading.
Number of shots to make - Pro's - Con's - Must Have Mods - What To Look For When Buying

Number of shots - 4 - below average

Pro's:
* Playing for football and pinball points is a blast, even better amongst friends
* Scoring the Extra Point over and over again is fun there is even a high score for it
* The tight playfield makes multiball a challenge
* Locking the right scoop is a tough but rewarding shot
* Skill Shot actually uses skill

Cons:
* There is very little to shoot for with the right flipper
* Scoring football points and multiball are the only things to achieve
* Biggest ramp only available when touchdowns are scored

Must Have Mods: (Note I will not include things like LED's, Color DMD, Invisiglass or Speaker Upgrades unless it's really badly needed)
* Repro Topper if original isn't in place

What To Look For When Buying
* Worn out artwork near flippers
* Main ramp nearly always cracked and/or broken
* Genuine lack of parts seeing only 1492 were made

MNF is no joke a fun game. It's never gonna rank up there in the Top 50 or even 100 but that's not the point. It's got a great theme and it exploits it well. 3 Ball multiball and a ramp shot that puts the ball between the goal posts! What's not to like?

MNF is a bit of a one flipper game, but it is really fun to shoot...and I'm no football fan. I'd go out on a limb and say that this is the best football themed game ever made (not that much solid state competition though). The fieldgoal shot is awesome...I'm a sucker for lifting ramp shots. Organizing a multi-player game on MNF is where it's at. Playing for points and score rules. An overall very good attempt at integrating the theme of football into pinball gameplay. Rating loses points for the generic art. Not licencing the NFL teams is a real deal breaker, and the art suffers because of it.

This is a great game for the basement, everyone that comes over loves to play it. The sounds and voices are great, the skill shot is a major part of the game and the head to head scoring makes it a different kind of pin
These are hard to come by for a reason, there's not many left and the average non-pinhead can play it and have a blast.

Not much to look at, even for NFL fans, Monday Night Football actually has an interesting design that utilizes a jump ramp (RFM anyone?) and integrates Football rules into a pin in a clear and sensible manner. It sometimes felt less like a pin and more like a pitch-n-bat, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The rules were simple and obvious - but I'm sure there were some features I didn't get to see on location.

A decent game worth a few plays, not on my wishlist though.

This is a machine that grows on you. At first it was kinda slow but after getting to know all the little shots it is a fun game. Multi ball is fast action. Goal post that go up for extra points and then shoot the bomb. Skill shoot is hard to get but pays off with a TD. March the yardage down till you score a TD on the center lights. You score with TD's or pinball points. Two different ways of scoring makes this Great to play in group head to head.

No matter how many times i play this game I Love It !! that multiple goalpost shot is addicting and that one shot on the right to lock the ball can be a pain in the rear end too and when it comes out geez sometimes right down the middle Oh What A Hit.

Monday night football is such an awesome game to play with multiple people. You can play either football points or pinball points adding in a whole new flavor of scoring. The field goal and extra point ramp that pops out of the playfield is sweet. Hitting the bomb ramp is very fulfilling as well. The skill shot is not easy and very satisfying to make. The sounds and call outs take you back to when MNF was on ABC.
The only con is trying to find repair parts. There was less than 1500 made and that was back in '89. Who knows how many are left. Grab one up if you can....the best multiplayer pin in my opinion.

Very fun game to play. It is actually better than I expected. Goal post shot can be tricky and the multi ball is fun. Gameplay can be modified with tons of scoring and timer options. Dual football and traditional point scoring makes games with buddies alot of fun. Rules are easy but there is enough to do on the table to keep you interested. Opening trick shot and raising goal post/ ramp are cool features, especially when the clock is ticking down for you to make the shot. The music is great, lots of sayings and recommended led lights make an awesome looking and playing pin. Solid fun and I can't wait to play it again! Edit: family friends love the game and advised me never to sell so it's a keeper and I don't mind because it is that much fun and a real challenge to play.

I have not played this machine on location yet, but from videos, it looks cool. I love the "touchdown" ramp shot and the funky DE 80s music. Bad news, it suffers from DE "shallow rules" syndrome, but when you forget about it, it's a player's game that's CRIMINALLY underrates!

Seriously underrated machine. The field goal ramp is a cool feature and I like the concept of the player going down the field and scoring a touchdown. One of the better Data East machines out there.

It has been a long time since I have played this game so I'll make it brief.

The Pros:
A cool layout with great shots and lots to shoot for. The sounds are spot on and making field goal always feels like an accomplishment. The art package is spot on to late 80's football imagery. It's not his most brilliant package, but K O'C does it again. Loved the skill shot. The center standups are sucker shots, so you better be on point. The raising of the ramp to put the ball between the goal posts is an awesome shot.

The Cons:
Very very simple ruleset, can be a snoozer once you find the groove. You'd better wax it up, steepen it to the point of only a sweet shot to the ramps will come all the way around and open up the outlanes to their nastiest settings or even remove the lowest star post.

The Takeaway:
An incredibly fun game. It's really well done with the whole theme and how the game is put together. Are you playing for pinball points or football points, or both? Take your pinball score and multiply it by your football score... I remember that it feels like you are playing a football game even though you are playing pinball. That's a job well done. I can't wait to find another one and play it again.

Fun game, not super deep, but nice for the casual player or football fan. It reminds you of the old Monday night football lineup back in the 70' & 80's so i do like the nostalgic part of it. the goal post shot is fun. a great bang for buck game!

Decent, not great, game. Shooting the goalpost is always fun, and I've played hundreds of games on it (family member owns one). MNF is a timeless theme, especially since Al Michaels and Dan Dierdorf are still active broadcasters. Good overall execution of the football theme.

Picked one up recently, described as dead. Well, I raised her from the dead and she ain't going anywhere. Really fun game, especially head to head. Wasn't expecting this one to be as fun as it is.
