Design team

Game Design: Barry Oursler
Mechanics: Joe Joos Jr.
Artwork: Python Anghelo

Noteworthy features

  • Ferris Wheel lifts ball to left side ramp.
  • Cyclone was second in Barry Oursler's roller-coaster themed pinballs. The other two are Comet (Williams, 1985), and Hurricane (Williams, 1991). Cyclone expanded the roller-coaster portion of Comet's design, and had three ramps! Additionally, the backglass featured a spinning wheel. The game is also full of carnival sounds, further adding to the theme.

Trivia

  • If you look closely at the playfield art with all the people walking around there is a big chicken, family of coneheads, a robot, a couple looking up waving to you, and several big breasted women! (birds eye-view!)
  • Python Anghelo (artist), has admitted that he was a big fan of former president Ronald Reagan, at the time of Cyclone's release. Its no surprise that Ronald Reagan appears on the backglass with the former first lady, Nancy Reagan, riding the Cyclone roller coaster.
  • In 1991 a band called Mr. Bungle released a self-titled album including a song called Carousel. The lyrics include references to Cyclone and the song uses many sound bites from the game.
  • Cyclone makes a cameo appearance in the 1991 film "All I want for christmas".
