Simple fun from system 1. Only joker poker is better

I will admit I am biased with this review - my neighbor had it when I was growing up, so there was a bit of nostalgia when I bought it. When I started to collect pinballs personally, this was the first one I got, and it will never leave my collection.

Overall, it is a simple, fun, addicting drop-target focused game. While pretty basic, it is pretty hard to master getting all the drop targets for the 2X-5X. I think it is one of the best System 1 machines from that era (late 70s, early 80s) - again I am biased. If you have a diverse array of machines, this would be a good change up just based on its simplicity and overall fun.

Just for comparison purposes, when I get tired of my JP premium or DP Pro games and just need a mental break, this is the game I play.

I put so many quarters in this game at the local hot dog stand. It always left me feeling like I could do a little better if I just tried ONE. MORE. TIME. It was this and the Taito/Midway Space Invaders video game.

Just picked this game up. Figured I would sell it on, but I’m surprised by it. It’s a fun game, the other comments here are spot on .

There is something about it that makes you want to play it.
Artwork is awesome I’m keeping it.

Game is great. Upper flipper are critical for the game. The countdown feature is awesome, and it really quick for one pop-pumper; don't let it fool you! Having to complete the targets in order for bonus multiplier makes the game even more challenging. Truly a game to play when practicing target shots! Artwork is awesome, though feel the cabinet design could've been a little bit better, but it does fit the game. The backglass is underrated, and the game is really fun, always making you want to come back for more.

Very underrated system 1 game maybe the best system 1. Simple design and rules. Sometimes this game will beat you to death and other days you kill it. Just make sure that center pop is cleaned and adjusted. It helps with the upper drop targets

Another really entertaining early solid state from Gottlieb. This pinball might look a little goofy, considering theme and colour- but the gameplay is solid and comparable to some of the best from this era. Once again, here is a game that proves that symmetric playfields doesnt automatically mean boring or stale play. Sure- this is not a fast pinball table, but the shots are challenging and varied with a properly balanced scoring. Biggest drawback is the cabinet art and the monotone bliip-bliip audio. But this is a fun title with a tendency of tempting you with "one more play". Worth checking out.

Not a entertaining game with no real attraction to bring you back a tad disappointing

One of the best System 1 games. Addictive game play and great to play with friends.

If you like shooting for drop targets, this is the game for you! There are 4 banks of 4 drop targets, and basically you are trying to hit down the different banks in order (top left, top right, middle left, followed by middle right) to get multipliers on your bonus. Such a simple ruleset, but somehow it just works. I generally like games with a little more "action", but I really enjoy Count-Down.

My first pinball love. Everyday after school at Happy Joes pIzza.. We got so good we would put a jacket over the top half of the play field to test ourselves.

This is drop target nirvana. 4 banks, get them in all down in sequence to raise your multiplier up to 5x.

That's it simple straight forward Gottlieb System One. Not much there, but what a great game to play to work on target practice. Rolling this machine over brings a tremendous amount of satisfaction. I own two of them now thanks to Pascal Janins all in one board.... Old Sys One Gottliebs never die...

I love drop targets and hate symmetric fields. This game has both. Pretty straight forward, 4x4 target banks and 4 flipper make for an entertaining game but eventually gets old. The layout is so-so, love the targets and 4 flippers but the upper field is very difficult to access and somewhat a waste of space. The artwork is OK, certainly nothing extra special. Overall a decent game

I grew up playing this one at a small arcade, I got so good at it they would not let me play anymore, lots of fun with basic sound

Easy to understand. Most basic game play. Challenging to get all drop targets. Top 10 for me.

Gottlieb games play a bit differently, compared to the newer machines but can still be a bit of fine. They have a coolness about them but its a personal thing and not for everyone. Countdown has a cool theme and the playfield has a few interesting shots. Having 4-flippers is brilliant and sets this game apart from many. Pretty good effort from Gottlieb. Not for me but id still have a game or two.

So so game. I like drop targets, but could not really enjoy that game. Ugly backglass.

Count Down is one of those games that is SS but feels completely EM. And that works well on this deck.

The Pros:
A simple layout and rule set that makes you shoot sharp or you get worked. 4 flippers that make the entire PF available to you. Hitting the saucer when bonus is lit is a hard thing to do from the upper flippers. Great angles from the lower drop targets. The PF and the BG look great! Another winner from Gordon. The SS version has a more interesting ruleset than the EM deck (Sinbad/Eye of the Tiger, Joker Poker, Pyramid/Cleopatra and the similar vintage)

The Cons:
The game is so straightforward that you end up making the same shots in sequence every ball, every game. I kind of wish there were lanes at the top of the pf sometimes... I would rate the audio higher if it had the chimer conversion on it.

The Takeaway:
A great Krynski/Morrison package that when properly set up will keep you on your toes. Just remember: green-yellow-red-blue and then go for that upper saucer! Your ball will chase goals around the pf from the top to the bottom to the top again.

This game is really hard to walk away from .It looks so simple and easy you think you could just light it up but just try and get that extra ball or free game. When you do get a great score you will know you can do better and keep playing more .With some leds it looks pretty sweet Great pin for the money

A classic early Solid State pin. Great art, four sets of drops, four flippers, and plays fast as hell for its generation. I fell in love with this one at the PHOF.

I'm a big drop Target fan so count down sort of drew me in . Count Down is a really simple game but very hard and addictive. There are four sets of 4 bank drop targets and you have to knock down each bank in a specific order to score big. This sounds easy but its not. Over all good game that can be found pretty cheap.

A drop target paradise early solid state game. The backglass is beatifull and the sound is typically monotonous. A Challenging game and a change of pace compared to the DMD's.
