Game is stuck in an endless loop of coining up (playmeter constantly goes up) and the game is constantly resetting (ball count unit, coin unit, player unit, replay unit all constantly resetting). Game will reset to zero if score reels are stepped up...and then keep resetting...and continuously coining up (play meter) but coin unit keeps resetting...

If the play meter keeps pulsing then the coin relay is probably stuck closed, keeping the score motor running. Things to check are:
3 coin chute normally open switches and replay button switch. Has the coin door wiring been hacked?
Score motor cam 5 switches A & B , inspect the normally closed part of each switch that they are opening properly when the cam drops it’s switch stack. Adjust switches if needed.
Check the pricing Jones plug that it’s in a proper location on the female side.

Completely unplugged coindoor. No change in behavior.

Score motor cam 5 switches A and B open when they should.

I removed all the score reels and tweaked/verified all switches open at zero. No change in behavior.

A couple of times the game would just continuously reset without increments on the total play meter...

Also a couple of times the game started and I was able to play 5 balls...

Something that is somewhat intermittent...but what?

Alright. Currently when I press start the only two relays in the bottom cab that stay pulled in are the lock relay (good) and the reset relay (not good).

Also, all 3 of the score reset relays in the head keep pulsing.

So since the coin relay is now no longer staying pulled in...and index 1C make break looks good...do I have a score reel issue?

#6 25 days ago

Yes the score reel switches are next. I think the schematic hold circuit for the reset relay is written in error.

Which part?

Does any up and coming techs know the answer?

Here is the problem. It is what I belive to be the Hole Score Drum Unit (by process of elimination). When not at zero at game over and trying to start a new game...it is pulsed to reset it to zero. The plunger is not pulling all the way in so it won't advance to zero. It seems to move freely so now I have to figure out why it is getting such a weak/short pulse...

OK got it. The 2nd switch from the top in this stack was not making at 1-9 as it should. Cleaned and fixed.

Next issue. Game has 3 pops. None work. Flippers and slings and kick out holes work. Ok as I am typing this I see a bridge rectifier and a fuse to the bridge rectifier. Fuse is good so bridge is probably bad? If I have to remove it from the circuit to test I guess I may as well just replace it.

The sound board is also in circuit with the bridge rectifier. Does it work? Also the Zaccaria fuse holders are generally pretty bad, I would double check that the fuse holder is making good contact.

The sound does work...hmm. Also I already planned on picking up a 4 fuse block because it's in bad shape. I don't think I jumpered over the fuse for the bridge. I should try that. Or should the sound not work if the fuse connection to the bridge was bad?

The schematic shows the sound board in circuit with the pops but I don't see the fuse on it. I can check my Circus tonight as it has the same setup but the sound board working tells me that the bridge is good.

Alright. Replaced 4 fuse block and all the lights came on. Pops are working now...had to bust out a fresh flex stone and go to town.

The answer to the schematic error on the reset relay hold circuit is:
The common connecting daisy chain wire on top of all the score reel switches isn’t connected to anything, when it should be connected to the yellow common wire.
Maybe someone can illustrate and explain the answer in more detail.

Alright next issue. Knock down all the drops and after last one drops the speaker emits a loud piercing BEEEEEEEEEEEP that doesn't stop until I turn off the machine. Ideas?

#18 13 days ago

Is that the explosion sound effect gone bad? Does the explosion relay do the same?

Explosion works fine. Ok well now it's all working...lol. I think it's just some dirty relays in the head. 10k most likely.
