As I wanted to express my sadness of losing one of my Icons of Surf, who showed that big blokes can charge.
Greg Noll. aka. The Bull.
R . I . P . my salty brother and thank you.
I actually shed a little tear and I didn't even do that for my Father.
Joined the club. Picked up a nice Surf Champ locally the other day. Cab is in outstanding shape as is the playfield but the inserts are sunken a fair amount. I'm considering a playfield protector for it because of that.
Looking for a price check on a fully working very clean, strong and fast playing Surf Champ
Game is above average cosmetically and play-wise It was recently worked on by a tech.
Game is not restored. Cabinet is good. pf and bg are even better.
Happy to be a club member again. Years back I had a Surf Champ beside Whitewater and a Toobin vid. It was a great surf line up.
I recently re-entered the club with a Surf Champ and started to fix up a worn playfield. I will share a few before and during photos, and will follow up with the after photos once it is back together.

Nice work.
Do any Surf Champ owners have a high resolution scan of the backglass? I need to replace mine and would like to send art off to Coos to print a film.
Hello everyone, fairly new to the pinside forum, but have a couple machines I've been working on, and am in process of restoring. However, in my search for machines as of late, I stumbled on a surf champ, one owner, bought new, kept in a doctors office since 1976. Pictures on market were horrible, but I decided to go check it out since it was $800 with possibility of maybe scoring it for a little less. So I walk in to the daughter's basement of her late father, Dr. W, and had to contain my emotions, as I walked up on a machine that looked as though it had been sent through a time machine. I was so excited and couldn't even haggle, and forced my money into her hands. Rubbers were shot, but otherwise, near perfect, and completely working. As you all know, these type finds don't happen often. Btw I'm 54, from Alabama, and have dreamed of owning a real pinball machine since I was 10 years old, and played "supersonic" for the first time in a podunk town in northeast Ohio. Bucket list item, finally marked off.

Photos show my sequence bank in the up and down position. I am thinking perhaps all the leaves are adjusted too far down, thus the mechanism is only able to make use of the bottom of the reset stroke. The problem I am having is that the adjustment seems to be either too close, light won’t go out, or too far, light won’t come on. Perhaps I need to move all the leaves back to a center position.
Those with experience, please have a look at the photos and tell me what you think.
Fantastic!

I need a glass for my Surf Champ
Guess i better apply for membership.
Missing the hell out of my Sunset Riders. It went to Newcastle Pinfest last weekend where it was enjoyed by many. Picked up after the show and taken back to it's creator Scott Seedsman for a ground up resto. Will have 8 ball's new V2 code put in it, all new boards, killer sound system etc. It'll be a long few months without it. Luckily i brought a Grand Lizard back with me to divert my attention for now.
Definitely, but I drive 11min and Im there. Just about everyday.
I know your type My big Bro is the same, won't go in the water till its 40degrees.
Am i right? Or are you my briney brother?
I just googled your home and what a great spot.
Quoted from punkin:Sunset Riders has landed at Scott Seedsmans for it's revamp.
Looks beautiful next to his pink one.

great looking Sunset Riders
When they made them the budget didn't stretch to doing the internals, so unrestored pretty much inside.
The sound system atm is a dodgy car stereo with speakers in a wooden box in the cab etc.
Scott's going to renew all the boards with a new board set, add in the new software that was developed here for Eight Ball with V2 and mode based progression etc.
Somehow add a sub and proper ported speakers internally, restore the underside of the playfield and all the mechs etc.
Pretty much bring it up to being the best one around.
Scotty is excited to be able to finish it to the standards he would have liked to first time round but Geoff wasn't budgeting for.

sounds good, give us an update down the track
Surf Rider!!! Ok, now that I have your attention, I wanted you to know that I have one for sale...
Cabinet, legs & backglass are in spectacular condition, playfield has significant wear. With that being said, the original paper apron, instruction and score cards are in good condition.
This game was owned and located in a small town pool hall until the early '80s. Since then, it has sat unused in a basement. I am currently cleaning & restoring the machine.
If you are interested the price is $1200 USD + the actual cost to ship....or if you feel like a roadtrip, you can pick it up just outside of Edmonton Alberta Canada. Thanks for reading my post Jim

Or a massive sea journey and cross a continent or two
GLWTS or resto
Years back I had a near mint Surf Champ, and traded it before I played it.
Since, I picked up a Surfer, and it's a very good player.
Maybe not quite surfing, but plenty of aqua involved. I'd trade a damn good
Wedge Head for a Sea Side. Because they went clear to Italy, chances are 1
in a bunch, but I feel that 1 in a bunch might still be out there..
Anybody have a Surfer / Surf Champ PF or Surfer BG to help me fix my disaster of a Surfer?
Or buy my disaster! Can bring to Allentown show
Quoted from flipit:I have a chime unit and possibly a lock bar for the game if interested.
message sent to your inbox - thanks
Quoted from firefighter:Does anyone have or seen custom apron cards for Surfer
I bought a set and they’re top notch

Not a full machine, but my own contribution, "Surfin' Time", inspired in part by Gottlieb's Surf Champ.

Is it a clock or a counter?
Well done mate!
People would buy that. I'd love one.
Thank you!
It's a clock - people have indeed bought them: AyscrimStudios.com
I'm out of this model for now, but I will make more in the future.
