Quoted from slochar:

It has some OK stuff. I'd even muddy it further by putting this in there:
Eight Ball Deluxe > Flash Gordon > Medusa > Centaur > Fathom

I have not yet played a good version of 8BD to form an opinion, not a theme that particularly interests me either.

#1852 43 days ago

I think it's confused! Good game.

Everything seems like it's dialed In and playing well.

Work on cabinet #3 starts, I'm hoping to shoot paint on #2 and #3 at the same time. Fiberglassed the rear edge and repaired other dings and dents.

Speakeasy lower cabinet will be combined with Bally sample head with swing out bezel (Xenon style) which will use early Stern transformer and rectifier board from early cabinet #1 configuration.

I'm hoping to have Flash Gordon, Fathom and Seawitch at Pintastic.

Just wanted to give a shout out and thanks to Madmax541 who hooked me up with a worn Fathom playfield (which really helped with parts and fabrication) play_pinball whom was kind enough to provide some much needed parts, WeatherbyMAG whom gave me a deal on the Fathom playfield with overlay and the usual bench of Stern / Bally fans ( Quench slochar Grizlyrig Joydivision ) providing support and direction of my feeble efforts making something from nothing. I'm sorry if I missed anyone!

The last year has been extremely difficult but slowly improving and I thank you for your support and raise a glass in your general direction!

You know it! Let's just hope the lucky shipping box does its job. Can't hurt to brown nose.

Lucky shipping box comes through.

Need to do some glue work and paint touch up on lower right but it will look fine.

Cabinet is currently stripped and repairing various spots, hope to paint this weekend.

Glue dried nicely so head is no longer delaminated at top and bottom.

Bottom rear edge of cabinet #2 repaired with 12 Oz of fiberglass resin.

Backglass repair in progress.

Flood area with triple thick, slide in loose pieces, cover with clear poly bag plastic, work any bubbles out, place light foam to "press" area with wood and light weight.

It will do, invisible from 2 feet away and knowing where to look.

Cabinet #3 getting closer to paint.

I'm awake at this ghastly hour, first thought? Aside from being peeved I'm awake.

Paint dry? Yes it is. A touch glossier than I'd like but I'm on a tight timeframe.

I'll paint the neck black tonight after work if I can stay upright.

Anyone have some cabinet playfield brackets kicking about? 2 pieces on each side, the support and stop. I can make something but the Speakeasy cab has the holes already and just assume bang them in. LMK

Progress..

Cab protectors made from free steel from work, was from Coleman minibike crate.

Chop at 6", round off one end, drill & ream the holes, hit with clear to prevent rust.

Where the steel comes from.

Worked on display board in head this morning. I had to extend a few wires so the plug would reach display 3. For what ever reason the head this was from had a connector that looked like it was chewed off by a wolverine so the wiring is short. It was fine for Seawitch, Fathom not so much.

Chopped out vinyl for shooter gauge.

Display board done, display wiring repaired, displays moved.

All I have to do is install neck grill, make apron cards , tweak backbox hinge and install shooter rod after letting paint cure for as much as possible.

gdonovan How many playfields do you have that you run in your multigame? Did you have to move any pins in the playfield harnesses? I've only had to move one or two pins per playfield to use in my Williams multi-game.

Seawitch, quicksilver, Centaur, Fathom, Flash Gordon.

No, the playfield harness are as factory wiring so they can be swapped about or sold if need be.

The only "exception " at the moment is Fathom as I left the wiring to controlled back box light off (tilt-high score-match) because I'm going to make a pod that fits into apron opening with that info. The LDB connector is there though so someone could add those wires should it be desirable.

Apron area is complete.

Apron is from a Hardbody if anyone is wondering.

Neck grill in, hinge adjusted.

All I have left to do is shooter rod plate and adjust a tight popper switch.

Flip plate for shooter rod location is complete.

Lower hole is for Flash Gordon or Xenon, upper for all other single level playfields. Just pull shooter assembly and flip plate to cover unused hole.

I also have an open bed pickup but I’m not bringing anything, hopefully I’ll bring something home though! Last night NBC30 showed monster rain Thursday night ending approx. 8:00 Friday morning, so Thursday night’s setup could be greatly impacted.

I may end up just doing one day with 2 pins, I do NOT want to wrap Fathom due to the fresh paint.

I wouldn't risk it.

One drop was giving me intermittent issues, (almost see next post) resolved and memory guide a page or two back updated.

The plunger for the rearmost blue drop target would get hung up time to time due to the plunger not being perfectly pointed "true" (and screw sticking out)

It would rotate I suspect and the point would become off center and work sometimes and others not.

To fix this I made a jig in which you place the plunger (using a nut and washers to space out) hold it up to the belt sander lightly and rotate the plunger till it was perfectly true.

Worked pretty good.

Finally tracked down cause of last blue target being erratic. Bracket mounting screw a touch too long coming in contact with one rib on drop target rear.

Replacing with shorter screw resolved issue and target now drops and resets 100% of the time.
