Got a Golden Tee?

Is it online?

Myself & Pinsider "Sfish" are looking for some more players to join in.

We can play for cash prizes or glory.

I'm a terrible player BTW

#2 7 years ago

Ive got a 2015 live but since I'm in Canada, I cant connect yet. They say, it will be soon but currently it sucks. Would love to play a few rounds with fellow Pinsiders. Had a tournament a few months ago. 20 people, keg of beer and a trophy, it was a great time!

#3 7 years ago

Nice! I have a 2013 last of the home edition! So no online, but great fun with buddies, I do like the keg idea...

#4 7 years ago

Mine was a 2011 Live I think, updated to 2012, 2013 and then I did the 2015 update package. It is the pedestal version, came from a pub and looks brand new still. Has the bill acceptor and credit card too.... I'm using a 42' tv.

I charged everyone $20 to participate, that included free beer and food plus the golf trophy I bought. Everyone had a blast and the winner got the trophy and a few bucks. Was a great time for sure, everyone loved it. Wish I could play online though.... Have my card ready, just waiting on them now...

Golden tee 2k, It is not online. Probably my 2nd most played video games.

#12 7 years ago

Yea I have a 2009 pedestal and am thinking of upgrading to 2017 . I really want the online but still want to hear opinions about it .

#13 7 years ago

If your really good , you can buy a uprite dedicated route beater and cut it down to a pedastal style and add a led screen.

Yeah, mine was a Fore 2005 cabinet. Plenty of arcade shops have spare Golden Tee Fore cabinets. Clear the wires away from the sides, make two straight line cuts with a good saw and now it's a pedestal. The Nitehawk computer mounts to the drawer and it's a pretty clean setup when all of the old wiring that isn't used is removed. The back door is notched and now fits over the opening in the top--or I could come up with a different solution but it's good enough. You can see on mine at the top of the control panel that there's a bit of a bump up where the control panel meets the "top". I bumped my hand on a few follow-throughs and now have a bit of padding in that area so it's no longer an issue.

We've been possibly thinking about purchasing a Golden Tee. What are the price ranges for these units & where can you find them? Would love to find a decent used one, so it wouldn't cut into our pinball budget so much.

#16 7 years ago
Quoted from Ockeyhead:

Game Room Guys has NIB for $3599

Use the coupon "GAME100" to bring the total down to $3,499 shipped & $0 sales tax.

$3,499 does not include the TV or optional TV base ($400-$550). I opted to wall mount my display with an $18 bracket from Amazon

Online is $100 yr

Updates are $500 yr

Each online game is $0.50 to IT regardless of prize value (including non cash "glory" prizes)

My #'s are estimates

Here's mine. Disregard the mess.

#19 7 years ago

I have a 2015 hard drive and security chip that I pulled from another set up if anyone is interested in upgrading an older version. PM me if you'd like. GT Live is super fun!

#20 7 years ago

I have a 2006 complete that was from a destroyed cabinet. Built a new pedestal for it, also has a cpu with 2 Ultimarc lite guns running mame games attached to it as well.

Would love a newer version but finishing basement first, it's at a friends house getting used all the time.

Sure we get "free" heath care cause they tax the crap out of us. Anything the can tax us for they will legalize. Beer, cigarettes, weed, prostitutes. The cigars is just cause Cubans like us better

Maybe ITS does not realize we play golf up here yet, however lots of us are lefties so maybe we are outcasts

Changed my Golden Tee name to "PW79" so feel free to send friend requests

Also... I saw Canadians on a leaderboard yesterday. Did GT unlock Canada?

#30 7 years ago

Prices in my area seemed across the board. I questioned if that it could be played online. If you have lets say a 2017 and an update comes out, does that break your ability to play online?

Man, that is one clean install! Even your sound bar has no visible wires or shelf. How'd you do that?

good deal on a 50, is yours a 16 or 17? think those do 1080 now, my 13 does 720 - was considering it in the future upgrading and getting a new vid card, but dont know if I want online since its just an occasional use machine unlike my pins.

OK guys I will share my secret.

I wall fished the wires. Use glow rods & fish tape for walls with insulation or use a magnetic "wet noodle" for hollow interior walls.

And you lot this marquee how???

#40 7 years ago

Away on vacation, but seeing yours makes me want to hit my gameroom and play a round!

#41 7 years ago

Sweet! looks great.

#42 7 years ago

I bought the $135 lit marquee kit.

It's been a pretty terrible install experience however. The illuminated marquee is heavy as fuck. It's EL paper I think with the translite & tempered glass in a plastic frame that wants to fall apart if not in its metal mount. It cannot mount to a wall for a clean hovering install which pisses me off & the mounting kit does not fit low profile TV wall mounts nor is it adjustable in height which really sucked as I had to get a new TV wall mount! Also the metal marquee arms do not install as shown in the instructions either. You have to put them behind the TV mount arms vs in from of them.

However... I made my original marquee illuminated by installing a $9 LED strip along the interior perimeter of the plastic frame & replacing the cardboard insert with $9 sheet of clear coroplast from Home Depot.

They DIY method is sweet. You can drill holes in the frame & then use small nails in the wall to hold it up. The reason I bought the $135 marquee was because the DIY one cannot really be taken apart every year for the 2018, 2019, 2020 replacement marquees. So I paid the $135 to be able to service/swap the marquee art each year.

Tomorrow I will post pics of what I'm blabbering about.

In the end it was worth the drama & price but it sure was a bitch to get to the finished result

I am getting a new translite for my MAME arcade printed then putting it inside my original GT marquee with the DIY LED illumination so both will get used.

So... I'm considering stripping my Golden Tee area (wall) of its decor & covering it with this

Yeah it's stupid but the basement is a celebration of stupidity. I'm still undecided tho because it's a hell of a commitment lol

Well really I dig the grass on the wall, but I don't think it will work for your basement. Looking at your pic above you have dark colors with your carpet and walls so I dont think the green will pop enough to make a statement. If you had lighter colors yes. Just my opinion.

I think you're right.

My basement is a black hole of flat paint & dark carpet. Shit even the ceiling & doors are black.

I could install a track light to shine down on the grass but my fat arse would just sweat.

Man, a grass wall with a Golden Tee would be so damn cool tho. You should do it!
