Quoted from LegoYoda:

Honestly dont see me selling Foo.. nearly 5k games in (family) and no one has gotten bored and the short game times make this a keeper for me...
makes me want a longer gamestlye for my next table though.. Maybe Godzilla, Maybe Rush....

I wanted something for some variety to go with my Foo Pro, which is bolted to the floor for me, and since I'm a pretty big Rush fan, I went with that for the theme alone. Scored a great deal on an LE. It's a great change of pace compared to Foo, and if you're into Rush at all, highly recommended.

Quoted from John-Floyd:

Did you update to the latest code?

yup that was it, thanks everyone

Anyone know what the male/female connectors for the cn7 on the Spike 2 PDU's are called? Have ninjacamp speaker lights and then got the topper. Need a splitter for them both to work but Ninjacamp is having some issues at the moment. Don't want to go into that, it's personal to them.

But I'd rather spend some $$ and just buy the connectors and make a new splitter. I can't find them anywhere online. Well can find the name of it.

EDIT -- It's a 2 pin MLX. Amazon. Just search for 2 pin mlx and arcade.

Quoted from Apollo18:

Installed shooter
Not cheap, but I dig it.
Feels solid and sturdy. In case anyone was wondering or concerned like I was.
Also it’s well designed that it’s functional still, as a shooter for skill shots etc.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Agreed. Not cheap but I'm happy with my purchase, the LEDs integrate really nicely with the expression lights. I'm still able to plunge skill shots or full plunge with no issues.

Quoted from swinks:

every since the last update I had weird issues with the overlord and put it down to software update but no one mentioned they were getting the same issues so thought to look under the playfield and reseat all the connectors and then check the menu and low and be hold an error.
Having not paid attention to the overlord mech until now I am not sure what the problem is.
Anyone else experienced this issue ?
Any tips or advice would be muchly appreciated.
[quoted image]
I did another check and seems to be the small release coil that is not releasing or a Node board....

bump bump

I checked the small release coil and the gap was quite large so dismantled and there is a small bracket with a small finger prong that is bent so straightened this out and in coil tests both work.

But when I turn the game on the prong post attempts 5 times to rise up and still getting the "device malfunction - overlord lock" error code.

I then ran a switch test and all switches seem to work except for the opto near the overlord prongs.

Could some one do a switch test and let me know if your fingers trigger the opto switch in switch test please.

Anyone experienced dead opto switches in this location....

Enjoy the flow of Jack Danger's Foo Fighter that I just bought his first game, Jurassic Park home edition. Looks like a good bit of fun, but won't have it for a few weeks. Anyone else own one?

I just checked on mine and yes the Overlord opto registers in switch test.

Thanks for the link. I had a friend that is in the same situation and was asking me about a splitter for that location a couple of days ago. That's not a bad price if you have the tools and know-how (and wire) and don't want to hit some minimum order quality from another place selling those parts.

I also added a set of black and white 5' 16 gauge wire to the order. Probably overkill for size but shouldn't hurt.

Hey guys, just wanted to share my new guitar pedal with my fellow Foo Fighters!

I started a separate thread for it below if anyone wants to check it out. Rock on...

Yeah, this is awesome! Very nice work.

Side note, imagine being the type of person who sits on internet forums just to share when they don't like something. Like, find a hobby. Another one.

I did just recently, was getting intermittent problems with the overlord opto. Barely touched the receiver itself on the receiver board and the solder joint came apart. Just adding more solder fixed it. You can access the opto pair from under the playfield, so it's pretty easy to get it out and have a look.

#13218 13 days ago

The blades/fins of the rocket feel same/similar to a standard Stern shooter.

However, now that I’ve had more time with it, the spring is too stiff; I’d recommend a spring change.

EtzEtz Thought keychain... then hole to the head which should kill the dop. Then bury it in the coinbox, lock the door and never see it again.

I met Nate in an airport baggage carousel once, and once at the Troubadour where he was playing with his side band. Would’ve loved to have that plastic Nate and a sharpie on hand…

thanks for sharing your experiences - just never had any dealings with opto switches

the overlord switch is SW 50 and in active switch mode when I test say SW 51 it shows that the switch 50 (overlord opto) and 53 (spinner) are permanently active with the box. I will work out how to remove the optos today

If they are always active try blowing some air in there before taking stuff apart... could easily be a bit of dirt blocking the beam and registering as "on"

Installed the new LIVE edition sound package, and I have to say that I haven't thoughly enjoyed playing my Foo LE UNTIL NOW It (for me) is an incredible 'alternative upgrade' to the stock, studio-recorded version..It feels like the whole crowd(s) with me jammin to the pinball machine...I didn't think it was going to have such a positive effect...BRAVO PoMC !!

#13229 13 days ago

Pulled a few things apart and went into switch test mode and tested a few switches which triggered but nothing from the overlord. The solder joints look fine - should I reflow - any tips or do I need new parts ?

the emitter side seems to glow as the camera in the phone picks it up so it must be the opto receiver side

750AC4B1-3216-430E-BA20-3CF6274B8675_1_105_c (resized).jpeg750AC4B1-3216-430E-BA20-3CF6274B8675_1_105_c (resized).jpeg

.

just did a extra test

- When I disconnect power side of the emitter nothing happens on the opto side as it is still activated it which I might then think something is block the light
- Then when I leave the emitter side disconnected and disconnect the receiver side the switch activation clears and plug it back in and it activates even though the emitter side is not plugged in.
- Seems to point to a bad receiver or the emitter is not bright enough.

Can someone with opto experience confirm if my thinking is correct

#13231 13 days ago

as the mythbusters would say - there's your problem - a dodgy connection on the receiver.

IMG_2910 (resized).jpegIMG_2910 (resized).jpeg

edit - here is a better photo - one side of the receiver never secured with solder

I've been eyeing Foo for quite some time but have been on the fence. Has the latest code put it into epic status? The only thing I hear is that the new call outs may be a bit too much? Check out my collection. Would Foo be a good choice for the next one?

I had one for a while. The layout is pretty neat but it’s a bit off … It just never felt the same as a regular stern. I much prefer the cornerstone.

Awesome collection and toppers! I’m jealous because my ceilings prevent that and only three game slots can have toppers. Then again on the positive side my ceilings have saved me a lot of money.

shouldn't need to be replaced if it's soldered down..what's that going to accomplish? (well besides a spare lol)....what happened to the 80ies 90ies era pins where you just replace a part or two, and be done with it? hmmm

Final version of the Foo Fighters Live code is now available! I think it rocks. Coincidence I just score 1.6 billion, going over 1 billion for the first time, while rocking out to the live tracks?
Working on the Premium/LE version and that will be provided to a few testers tomorrow.
Pro has 5 custom attract mode videos and the Premium/LE has 6. So it's a great mod for the eyes when the game is not being played.
Just message me for the Pro link if you'd like give your ears new live versions to enjoy.

any video of this version?

No. But I suppose I can make one. But super easy to download and write to an SD card to try out. No need to overwrite your current SD card. Then you can swap back if you prefer the album song versions instead of live. You also have some nice attract mode content so the game looks cool when not being played.

Ahhhhhh! Ok.

Fun fact...you can play another game's code in any Stern machine. I loaded Jaws code on my James Bond just so I could check it out, listen to the music, sounds and callouts. And of course when making code mods, I test the Premium/LE code on my Pros.

Ok, Elvira with Foo Fighters....could work...just to scared to damage up a node board....always happy when things keep playing.

Is there a way to tell if you got your last band member combo from a mystery award or from actually shooting it? I know what you're thinking, surely you know what you shot! But sometimes in mb I don't notice and I think you can only get one from a mystery award if your previous one wasn't from a mystery award and I don't want to be hitting the radio targets for no reason, trying to spot a combo. Love TTMB!
