Quoted from seatownpinhead:I notice a lot of you have discoloration between where the Mylar was. Was this from them being in bars with smoke back in the day? Or paint being exposed to the air?
Yeah prolly a bit of each smoke, air and dirt I think is to blame. lol
Quoted from Schwaggs:Just finished re-capping all the boards and upgrading to MOSFETs in the display matrix.
Quoted from pinballfan:my swap is done!all insert removed,sanded,new sticker,finitech-3000 clearcoat.plastic set protector
Your F14 makes me look forward to doing my machine in the future, yours turned out pretty nice
Quoted from RoachApproach:One thing that I've always had a problem with on my machine is the Yagov kicker. For some reason it gets caught in a loop and just keeps kicking over and over. Any idea what could be causing this? Right now I've just got it turned off, but I don't like having a signature feature of the game disabled.
well if its firing over and over it sounds like the switch it too tight obviously its triggering the coil so youll need to add some gap or readjust the switch sound like it is getting triggered by the firing of the kicker becouse its too tight.
Quoted from SUPERBEE:I just noticed that there are 4 black knobs on the back of the speaker panel that screw off the score display board that have wedge bulbs in them . They are obviously there to illuminate the Williams Pinball #1 in the World but they dont work even after changing the bulbs. Again, i didnt even know they were there. Any ideas ?
That was an early machine they didnt use the lights on the display board so if they dont work its normal.
Quoted from Jumping-Box:Does anyone know the size of these post? I've got a couple broken ones.
1. Post that hold the rails near the pop bumper
2. Post near the left TOM targets.
Honestly the from post on your TOM plastic would be better upgraded to a regular star post then you can take the current front post and use it to replace the broken one.
other than that I believe its a through hole post 10-24 with 6-32 top inside threads Marco used to have them.
Sound shouldnt be muffled and scratchy, check rom sockets and pins for corrosion and wear, also might need to recap the sound section as well on the MPU and sound board.
Its not on F14 but this is what your flasher boards should look like when modified for leds.
013.JPG
You just need to remove the 330 Ohm resistors or add a 10 ohm resistor to 1251 sockets to use 12V leds If you look at the 2 center flashers in the center of the panel a resistor has been added to convert to 12v bulbs or leds.
Unsure why CPR dont make a playfield but it could be a insert availability problem or i think i might have heard some other company might be doing them instead.
Quoted from SUPERBEE:Does anyone else think it would be cool if someone came out with a replacement backglass for the F14 ? Not a transite but actual recreated painted glass. I love my F14 but have always found the transite to be the weakest part of the machine artistically. What do all you F14 fans think ?
I agree a backglass would be a nice upgrade for this game like they are making for pinbot. swords of fury could use a backglass upgrade as well.
Quoted from Fifty:Guys, I need to know the proper diode number for flipper coils. I have a broken one. It's a 1N4003. I took a look at the other diodes on my coils and the numbers are all different. 1N4002, 4004… what diode is supposed to be on the coils??? The manual doesn't list the diode number, just the coil and the diode for the EOS switch which is a 4001.
Honestly its fine to just replace all the 1N diodes on these machines with 1N4007 It saves on parts inventory and they all have the same properties with the exception of voltage handling.
