Like the topic says.. does new Stern machines ship with WIFI-dongle and SD-card for the Insider Connected, or do you have to buy those to get it running?

You get 2 SD cards and a Wifi dongle, but you can upgrade them. It HAS to ship with the SD cards because that's where the code is to run the game and upgrade it with new code.

Upgrading the wifi dongle with a good one (antenna helps, too) will give you more range.

Upgrading the main SD card will be more reliable and about 6 second faster boot.

PinMonk Where is the 2nd SD card located, and what does it do? Ive only been able to find the SD card at CN13 on the main board in the backbox

It's a microSD at the bottom of the board, below the CPU. I *believe* it is a scratch storage of sorts, used for unpacking updates. I wouldn't worry about that one unless it fails since it's used much less often.

    Whattyaknow…there it is, thanks

I was focusing too heavily on the manual and its drawing of the CPU Node and the tables of connectors and geegaws. It seems that card port is not labeled.

I did find a page in the manual of various part numbers of ‘Common Parts’ and it listed the SD and MicroSD cards and the WiFi dongle.

Yeah when you buy an IC they send the micro with instructions.
