Quoted from freddy:

i think he needs to double it and he might have a chance.

I think 25k is enough to prove I'm serious and get a seller to contact me.
We can adjust to a more "fair price" from there if needed,
but I'm not going to keep bidding against myself here...

Lets sing a happy clown song kids!

The Homey the Clown dollar bill "magic trick" might be more applicable here.

Considering the last "public sale" of a DE KK went for a little over $20k on Ebay in 2013, the ante will most likely need to be raised.
If I remember correctly, this particular game came out of long term storage, and was not even "test fired".
I might be thinking of another sale, however, in the past decade or so.

The owners that I know that have one (beyond John) are not going to be tempted with $25k.
Money really is not the issue here.

Hopefully, the OP has actually had the opportunity to play the machine in person, as they might be a bit disappointed otherwise.
The only primary redeeming feature is the artwork, not the gameplay, but is not terrible either.
It would not sell really well as a remake, unless Stern did an overhaul, finish the code, and do some drastic improvements in features, and even a DMD at minimum.
It could have potential if this and a few other additions were made, and rights were secured.
Right now it plays like a weaker System 11 WMS game, and DE Robocop and POTO both have it beat in code as it stands at the current time.
Makes DE SW look like a "Picasso of pinball game code" (non-updated).

Occasionally, they do show up a show, but not as often as they used to overall.
Time marches on...

Just a small bump to help "Shock the Monkey"

I'm thinking it's the 'money' that needs a few volts.

Offer $30k, you might get some nibbling.
$35k, you will get a bite.

A suggestion fattrain: if no one will sell theirs to you have you considered the feasibility of having one built? Just a thought...

It would cost much less, but a current owner would have to join this project!

Interested in the fun rarity aspect of it more than anything (especially since the gameplay is very "meh"). If I was going to build one from scratch I would just make a brand new game & name it King Kong... Or what about King Hippo? Always enjoyed boxing that guy

#168 8 years ago

Wow 25k... thats a lot of money.
i have a mc prototype serial nr 0001.
if you can wait a few months i make a King Kong of it.

#169 8 years ago

Well thats a joke.
If people can buy 3 Stern special editions why not a proto kingkong for the same price.
You can buy a 80.000 dollar mercedes car, after a year you have trow away your king kong money.
So why not.
