I got into pinball collecting April 2006 when I went to a local arcade tech's warehouse looking for parts to build a new MAME cabinet and ended up finding a Bally Judge Dredd machine that was right in my price range. I'd always wanted a pin, both because I have fond pinball memories in my youth, and because as time goes by and the arcades of my youth close down (which they all have...) pinball is harder and harder to find and I wanted to own at least a little bit of that to keep for all time...
Well, 15 games later, here I am!
I'm a member of 2 local pinball groups, Sacramento Pinball - Tax Free Pinball in the Capital City, and Central Valley Pinball. I've attended about a half dozen shows now and several "get togethers" and really love the laid back attitude and culture of the pinball collectors. I also enjoy working on my machines, and more than that, of course, playing pinball!
My favorite machine is Twilight Zone, followed by Star Trek: The Next Generation, both of which I'm lucky enough to own.

I second that! Great writing! I'd wish more Pinsiders would write up their machine experiences but I guess we're all too busy playing pinball?
