Backbox & Videomode

It is unknown wether any backbox ornaments were available for this machine.

A digital pinball game on the dot matrix. On top are five drop targets, in the bottom are two flippers. Try hitting all of the drop targets in time for an extra ball!

Noteworthy features

  • Spinning magic trunk. One side has a whole allowing the ball inside the trunk. One has a 'spiral' looking plate which can magnetically pick up the ball, one side has 'nothing'.
  • Hocus Pocus Magnasave: On top of both outlanes are eddy sensors that can 'feel' a ball that is about to drain and turn on magnets that suck the ball back in the inlanes.
  • A mirror is mounted above the roll over targets in the upper right side of the playfield, to allow you to see them better. The freaky thing is that the mirror turns the ball movements upside-down.
  • The Spirit Ring is a magnet hovering above one of the ramps. It can pick up the ball and drop it onto another ramp.

Trivia

  • Theatre of Magic was the third and last game in designer John Popadiuk's magic-themed pinball "trilogy". The other two games were: Mystic (1979), and Pinball Magic (1994).
  • Latest upgrade: Game ROM v1.4
