Pure Pinball Chaos! But yet, so satisfying...

Like a kid waiting for Christmas, there I was...  Calling the Roadway freight shipper every couple hours...  "Is it off the truck yet?  How about now?".  Finally, my new Machine arrived!

I rushed to pick it up, and sped home, because a friend was coming over to help me move it and set it up.  But, my friend Heath had to run to a date, and was leaving right when I arrived home.  All I could do was to pull the box back while the machine sat in the truck...  Ahhh, it won't be long now!

After HOURS and HOURS (2 hours, 34 minutes, but who was counting), Heath finally came back.  I never knew just how heavy machines were until my first pinball arrived.  It nearly killed me lugging the IJ up the stairs.  But the adrenaline you can work up while anticipating is unprecedented.

Frantically flipping through the quick set-up guide...  Ok, what's next!   Install 8 balls?!  Are you kidding me?!  (They weren't...) By midnight, it was ready to plug in. Pop, Boing!  YES!

That all too familiar tune starts blasting...  you know the one.  Dum, da dum dum, dum da dum...  Ahh, and then it spoke!  Oh, and the lines!  All the obvious ones!  "Magic Rocks?!  Fortune and Glory?!", "X never EVER marks the spot"...  Now, just how do I get that magical 8-ball multi-ball?  Ah, I see it!  And the light is on!  YES!

Complete madness.  That is the only way to describe it.  The lights flash, and out of the Ark pops 4 balls!  The ball held on the magnet releases for 5, and then the lane shoots out 3 more.  Oh my G**!  Holy SH**!  It is really 8 balls!  YES! Ridiculous!  I LOVE IT!

Well, I do have to admit, it doesn't last too long, but man is it satisfying.  There is absolutely nothing greater in pinball than the new Indiana Jones machine spitting lines and 8-balls at you all at once!

Dum, da dum dum, dum da dum...

I got to play this baby myself, three weeks ago. It's a great machine and the sound quality is amazing, dare I say it, it's finally better than the Bally/Williams DCS machines we all love so much. That 8-ball multiball is fantastic, it's fairly easy to keep 5 or 6 balls in play (unlike Apollo 13's 13 ball multiball where you loose them all in a sec or two). Yep, IJ is a good buy!

8 balls ? I dismissed this machine when I discovered the design was pretty much the same as the old Bally version. But if the gameplay has been altered, that's definitely a plus I'll have to consider. I do love the ol' Indy movies (not too sure about the new, sci-fi, coffin-nuking one though).

I think people are being a bit tough on the new indy. though i haven't seen the actual playfield yet (only one wrapped up ready to go to a show) I love the look and colours of the machine. I don't like all the photoshop in the backglass as i think this'll age quicker than hand draw art.

People are scathing on the lack of rules, combos and double scoops. I think it's the love for the old 93 version that people are so harsh on this game ?maybe? Plus, people love to constantly bash stern and the choice of licenses.

I've searched for all the reviews online, and all-in-all, most owners are enjoying the game. I plan to play one at the UK show at the end of this month. If i like it, i might give stern some of my hard earned cash - I'd love to own a NIB pinball, and i don't wanna see pinball production dissappear off the earth if stern goes the way of the dodo!!

doeboiz - Now you've had the machine a while, what's you thoughts on it?

I've been playing this game for a few weeks now. I will say the first few games i did feel a little crowded by the playfield layout. That and an additional ramp would have been nice.

After several games however i think you will find as well the game to be a lot of fun with a good replay value. The multiball blasting out of the coffin is exciting as is the small ring in the top left corner that seems to go nuts when your doing well. The sound stays exciting and does not become annoying. The voice's are also very clear and diverse with quotes from all moveis.

I'd recommend this table for people in the market for a 2008 table.
